I can't believe I've yet to be spit on! I love to watch the people move to one side or the other of their seat, dodging Michael, when he comes downstage. haha. I can understand that, but it makes me mad when people giggle every time about it! It's like "get over it, already!". But you also have to take into consideration that it may be their first time seeing live theatre and they didn't know what to expect.
Kelly you need to stagedoor with me. We can be all fangirlish together!

Don't toy with me, Sarah. I will *so* stage door it with you!!! I've actually never been fangirl-ish before. I wouldn't mind doing that just once. I need someone to be brave for me. I won't be able to speak, lest I have another attack of "word vomit" like I had with Donna Murphy... actually, it was more like oral and motor paralysis, but not something I'm eager to experience again.

I love all of her work and she was a doll last night when I met her after the show. Great woman!

Kel, the only day I'll have to do it is July 22nd! If you can make it that day, we can stage door our butts off! Are you going to attend Ben's solo gig on the 31st?? I'm going.
One of my livejournal friends just got the Life Goes On box set. And with all her talk about watching Patti and her lovely 90's hair, I had to start watching mine again. With every episode I love Mrs. Patti more and more. Such a good show.

Moxie, that is not wrong at all. At least not in my mind. To be honest, I went in thinking to myself, "That man could bathe me in saliva any time, anywhere!"
I didn't get any on me, though. My purse was on the floor, and was not so lucky. There were little spit bubbles all over the leather. It's okay, though. I mean, it *is* from Michael Cerveris.

When I mentioned to my co-workers about the saliva factor, they were like, "what if he spits in your mouth?". Naturally, I explained, "well, then we made out".

I got to see Sweeney from the front row, center on Thursday. It was AMAZING!!!! I got looks from the entire cast. Mano pointed his bow at me twice...it was inches in front of my face! Patti looked right at me at curtain call and gave me a wicked smile/look. She was sweet at the stage door. She rememberd me and said, "You were in the front row!" So nice...I have a pic, but I can't post it yet...will when I get home to Florida!
I f--king LOVE this lady. Evita was the very first Broadway show I ever saw (I was very young. We had cousins in town and we took them out on the town) and I will never, ever forget how incredible it was. How you can know--even at such a young age--that you're witnessing something magnificent.
Michael Cerveris iand Manoel Feliciano are GREAT talents, and I've no doubt I'll love them both and walk away deeply impressed! I can't wait to see how they inhabit these roles. But I'll admit it...I'm Patti's bitch. And the main reason I'm so psyched for tomorrow is that I'll be seeing a living legend.
So, I take it, you've not seen the show, yet? You're in for the time of your life!! Be sure to tell us all about it!
A Michael love thread? I don't know. From what I hear...I've not been on any others except Greg Jbara's...they get a little crazy. With all the "off-topicness" and whatever. But I love it here!
I'm off today and tomorrow! Time to fire up my Life Goes On DVDs! Nothing like Patti for hours!

BlueRoses, enjoy the show! I'll be there myself - watching from Row D this afternoon.
I would like to hear what you thought of the show once you get back, if you find a free moment. I can't help but wonder if all the hype that the show has been given detracts from the value that a "new" audience member takes away from the performance. I had the pleasure of initially seeing the show pre-hype, and I can't help but wonder if I'd have been impacted in a different (perhaps more negative) way had I seen it post-hype.

SeptemberKel, I was in row D this afternoon, too! The theater was packed today, wasn’t it? I was afraid I was going to miss the first few minutes of Act Two because the line for the ladies room was so long. Did you notice the usher who looked a LOT like Michael? My friend and I were a little startled when he handed us our Playbills. It wasn’t just because he was bald and tall. He really, really looked like him. Anyway, Usherveris was super nice!
The show itself was thrilling. Stripped down. Jarring. Intense! I'll admit to feeling a little disjointed trying to follow it in the beginning, but it all came together beautifully. Although the actors functioning as the orchestra was strange at first (I think many audience members were—while delighted—a little thrown by this. I had known what to expect from the BWW boards) it forced me to pay attention and become involved. I was totally drawn into their world along with the rest of the audience. They actually pointed to us. Spoke to us. Spat on us! The saliva didn’t make it to the fourth row, so I was safe.
Patti was everything I expected her to be. I was crazy about her take on Lovett, and how overtly sexual she was. The pipes (and the LuPuppies!) were fabulous. Her presence is nothing short of incredible.
Michael Cerveris was excellent. Jesus, what a great f--king actor. Creepy, vulnerable and completely believable. He is fearless. It’s all about the voice with him. It’s SO deep and primal and just…wow. If it were another role he were inhabiting instead of a murderer, my thighs just may have burst into flames just upon hearing a speaking voice like that. Meowrrr.
But Manoel Feliciano is the one that really got to me. Something tells me he went through a lot to get that character just right. The innocent soul and the tortured psyche. His Tobias was so moving, and he sang the role so exquisitely. His last scene? Unbelievable. (Slightly O/T: I vote his headshot the best in the cast. He looks like a young Simon le Bon)
Kel, does it seem like Manoel was overcome with emotion at the end during the curtain call? Patti, Michael and the rest were soaking up all of the audience worship, but Manoel seemed absolutely drained, like he was having a hard time coming out of character. It must really take a toll on him. Updated On: 7/3/06 at 12:03 AM
You never know for sure, but I would think so, yes. I bought the tickets for the 2nd since it was initially supposed to be her last performance, but she's since extended.

chrrymn...i LOVE it!! i had the exact same conversation!!
It's not okay to post the links if it's bootlegged material. But, anything else, like all those horrid Wicked spoofs, that's fine. I *think* that's how it goes.
I'm glad Patti extended! Hopefully, I'll get to see her first part in Nov. when I see Les Mis!
