Yes, another appreciation thread, and no - I'm not interested in hearing about it. So, since it seems every other Best Actress in a Musical nominee has a thread devoted to her, why not Ms. Patti?!?!?!
Share your love and appreciation for this one-of-a-kind, wonderfully brilliant, incredibly gifted woman here!

Patti is amazing. I can't remember a time in my life that I did not know who she was. As a child, I was already heavily into musicals. I loved EVITA and then of course she created and originated the role of Fantine in LES MIZ
I enjoyed her TV show LIFE GOES ON as well.
ANYTHING GOES, the SWEENEY TODD concert, the PASSION concert and now the SWEENEY revival just cement the fact that she is incredible.
She is talented and tough. Her new album LADY WITH THE TORCH is very sad. Vocally, emotionally it's amazing... but does anyone else get the sense that she is depressed?

Patti has never let me down in live-performance...something that, unfortunately can't be said for other supposed stars of her status. On top of that, she's a first-class New York dame and proud of it!!
As much as I enjoyed her take on Mrs. Lovett, it's her performance in "Anything Goes" that stands out in my mind. It was one of my first Broadway shows to see, and I knew her only from the cast album of "Evita." That score was so perfect for her voice at that time. Every time she'd belt a note it was like someone was playing a beautiful brass instrument. I still consider that revival and its recording to be the definitive version of the show.
Patti is a singer/actress that I have never gotten bored with and probably never will. She always gives the best performances and really knows how to entertain the crowd.
I can't wait to see her next year when she makes her LA Opera debut!

"I listen to at least one of her songs everyday and I never get bored of her voice."
Absolutely. It's quite sad right now - my car consists of all of her cast recordings and her two albums. That's it.
I can't help but wonder to myself if/when she'll come back to Broadway next. There must be a million roles I'd whore myself out to see her cast in. I'm so (stupidly) worried that Sweeney will be her last Broadway act. She better be back! She needs her second Tony!
