I haven't seen Spamalot, but that "somebody swallowed it?" joke was horrendous. If all the jokes in the show of that caliber, I'll cry if it wins Best Musical.
And Sara Ramirez is doing a good job, especially since she's sick.

Posted: 6/5/05 at 10:22pmGood song choice for Spamalot, featuring Sara is the way to go

Ohk, Sara's so much better than her understudy.
I can see why people love her.

I know Bill Irwin is not that HOT name on any of the threads, but I am so glad. As Broadwaydannyc said, he is the greatest clown and vaudevillian alive. I love his work. I thought O'Byrne would win, but I am so glad Bill won

Posted: 6/5/05 at 10:25pmI hope you enjoy it Scoundrel! I'm going to try for the lottery on Tuesday to give Norbert some post Tony support (That would be my 6th time, if the lottery gods are with me)

Yeah, liar, all the jokes are pretty much like that.
Ohk, Sara's a really good performer.
She was singing like that even when sick?
Wow. Heh.
That slow-motion thing did NOT work at all on TV.

re: The 2005 Tony Awards Thread#665
Posted: 6/5/05 at 10:25pmI don't know what to think of Spamalot. I need too see it for myself. DHP Is enough motivation, though. And Sarah sounded incredible...I can't believe she's sick.
re: The 2005 Tony Awards Thread#666
Posted: 6/5/05 at 10:26pmSorry to be "that person," but other than Ramirez that performance was pretty run-of-the-mill. The choreography was more simplistic than most high school productions and the harmonies were nothing special. I'm not going to judge the show as a whole based on that one performance, but that was pretty boring.

re: The 2005 Tony Awards Thread#670
Posted: 6/5/05 at 10:27pmI was very disappointed with Spamalot, but I had to see it for myself, I would never have believed anyone who told me it wasn't very good
re: The 2005 Tony Awards Thread#671
Posted: 6/5/05 at 10:27pmThat was hilarious. I can see why Sara walked away with her Tony. Her joke-like riffing on the song was on the money. It lookslike a funny show. I would definitely give it a shot.

Posted: 6/5/05 at 10:27pmyeah in my opinion it pretty much sucked lmao. hm sara was sick, that does give me respect for her though. but i found the performance boring.

Posted: 6/5/05 at 10:28pmSo far...these performances make me want to see Piazza and Bee. I've seen DRS and Charity (in Boston). Spamalot, I think I'll pass on...

Spamalot was ok. Sara was good... but that's about it. The choreography was very... I don't know, it seemed like they should be dancing to a completely different kind of song. I was a little disappointed that Tim Curry sort of just sung-spoke his stuff...
Why my parents loved this show, I'll never know. I guess to someone who never sees theatre, it's pretty good, but it fails to excite me.
