Hell's Kitchen with a Best Book nomination - hell has frozen

An almost total shutout for Gatsby, even in technical categories. They only picked up Costume.

Stereophonic with 5 noms !!!

A lot of love for Stereophonic, including orchestrations and FIVE featured performance nominations.

No featured actor for Patriots

I am a fan of both of them, but a bit surprised by the nominations for Schreiber and Ryan. I felt both of them gave relatively lackluster performances of two incredibly meaty roles.

No The Wiz for Revival or anywhere I think?

I was wondering who she replaced. Loved her work though so glad to see her recognized.

Wow, this nominating committee REALLY didn’t like TOMMY! Kinda shocked it only got one nomination

Holy cow, Stereophonic! 5 featured noms is wild but well deserved. Let's go Eli Gelb!

After Sweeney winning Sound Design last year nothing surprises me

So disappointed at Illinoise getting so few nominations…. I wonder if it hurt its chances for winning Best Musical. I just can’t imagine all these mediocre shows win over such a forward moving work of art. I’m soooo disappointed.

I’m annoyed with that Michael Greif nomination

Ouch, nothing for The Wiz or Harmony.
With such a crowded season I was expecting the various shows to all get nominated in some fashion across each of the categories. Clearly I was wrong. The voters only liked a couple of the musicals.
Yay for Eden though! It's her first nomination right?
Kelli didn't get one though, which is interesting. Was her performance dull?

Shocked that, even with 6 nominees, somehow both Ricky Ubeda and Paul Alexander Nolan missed Featured Actor in a Musical.
I'm not as surprised by these nominees, overall, as everyone else seems to be, but seeing them all next to each other, I feel like the winners will be almost impossible to predict.

Add in Playwrights Horizons and The Public, and 6 of the 10 nominated plays/musicals came from the NYC off-Broadway world. Congrats to them.

Happy for Roger Bart, also wanted to see Hugh Coles. Complete shutout for heart of rock and roll?
