I don't think it is even humanly possible to dislike Margo...which is saying something considering the attitudes 'round this place.
BWW would not be the same without Margo!

I wonder if anyone in here knew MargoChanning personally? The general belief is that he passed away. I feel a sense of wistfulness regarding this person, who was much loved. This item seems to be his last post (from 2007). Sigh. https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.php?thread=927147#
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

I can confirm that Margo passed away sometime in 2008. I don't recall the exact cause, but I believe it was sudden. I didn't know him well, but we had a mutual friend and would often run into each other at the theater. I knew who he was through this board and was initially intimidated by him, since his knowledge base was so vast. In person, though, he was very warm and unassuming. Sadly, our mutual friend who first told me of his death has also passed. I don't think I'm violating his privacy to say that Margo's real name was James, and he was an attorney in regular life.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

I do seem to remember it being posted that Margo had passed. If I remember it was in the middle of a thread somewhere.
You can still find his posts here. I went to his profile a while back and just read through some of his comments. I honestly forget how I got to them! Really miss him.
The "Does Effie White need to be heavy?" thread that was recently necroed has a good amount of wealth from Margo in it (I think it was actually one he started)
I'd never say Margo was a dear friend, but we socialized a bit and he came to number of shows I was in and was always so friggin supportive. And that bitch was FUNNY. We saw IN MY LIFE together with the also dearly departed iflitifloat and it was absolutely suck, f*ck, duck, lemony heaven. His 'review' of it on this site is some truly great writing.
Such loss. But I'm grateful that this forum exists to have on record the extraordinary musings of Margo and iflitifloat and others who have gone on to whatever is next.

I was the one who mentioned his passing in the middle of the “Effie” thread...he was one of the best reasons to stop by and soak up his knowledge....he is deeply missed.
