When is the DVD coming out?
Also does anyone remember what Stew's Pretzel man speech was exactly?
I remember really liking it but can't remember the exact speech.
Could someone post it?
Even though the show has officially closed, I hope we'll still pop in occasionally to say hi in this thread or something, or perhaps an update on the actors or crew.
there's a new play at the public this week, with Stew's music.
Anspacher theater. 10 bucks. check out the Public website
Jade, awhile back, you said you had posted a video of the JP's PS perf of "We just Had Sex". Is that indeed posted? thanks.
It is no secret that I despised this show, but I just wanted to wish the scaryotypes all the best during their period of mourning and hope you can all find a new show to love. I'm glad you all had a fun day yesterday and got to say goodbye to your favorite show.
See, despite what some people say, I am a nice guy!

Here's the jist -- as best as I can recall
-- We had a dress rehearsal a while back...it was free... sorry we didn't let you know.
-- I invited a friend who owns a business on the corner of Astor and Lafayette...he sells pretzels.
-- After the show we went back downtown to Telephone Bar for a few drinks. After 5 or 16 beers the Pretzel man says to me.
-- You know "the real" that the Youth is looking for in the play? It doesn't exist. It only exists in art.
--- And I said "damn, Pretzelman, you're a heavy MF!"

So I finally have a moment to reflect on this quite surreal weekend. This has to have been one of the best weekends of my life. Crazy, perhaps. But this show has meant a lot to a lot of people, myself included. So much of the show reminds me and many of my friends who I've taken to see the show, of our lives. Not being quite who our culture says we should be, not prescribing to the ideas and beliefs we’re supposed to, loving art that “we don’t do,” being indeed Black folks passing for black at times. The Sat. Mat was incredible; Seeing people truly enjoying, rocking out warmed my heart; Marian Seldes stopping to talk to my friends and I about how much we all love the show and how it is good to see real theatre again (her words, my fellow Scaryotypes). The closing was even more incredible and I shed more tears than I usually do. Had distance not been a factor, I know I would’ve seen the show more than I did. I wish the cast, crew, and creative team much success in the future and thank them for bringing to life a piece that I can say without a doubt has changed my life.

Came across yesterday's performance of Keys on youtube. Audio only, but gives you the idea. Just picture the entire audience on their feet, dancing, singing and clapping.

Hey Tiny...did I have dinner with you the other night? I'm the one from Maine
Maine, you were with Debra? Yes!
We invited you guys to our table....
I'm just posting to see how my new avatar looks.
I'm going to write up my thoughts about yesterday between today and tomorrow. I have a feeling it is going to be a long blog entry.
Hey looks like Maine found us.

Frogs_ I think in the avatar, YOU look much more "COOL" than Stew!
could you e-mail me any other pix from yesterday...me and my friend did not stage door...(I'll PM my e mail address.)
Thanks.
I just took a longer look at the photo... and just look at the background and you'll see what (who) I mean. It's just too perfectly placed.
EDIT- WithoutATrace, that was very nice of you to say!

yea frogs I saw that, too funny
Interesting final week grosses for Passing Strange -- the highest weekly dollar amount ($393,296) and % capacity (85.5%) of the whole run. The % capacity went from 38.3% to 85.5% in one week (as tinymagic had predicted).
Also of interest: 97,370 tickets were sold to PS during its Broadway run. I wonder how many of them went to people on this board (and to Marian Seldes)?

They're not in order, but you get the general idea.
Sorry, frogs fan! I didn't even see that. She's more in focus than you and Stew are. Hey, I didn't even get one good picture with Stew. Check out my Facebook profile picture. That's the best picture. Seriously cracks me up though.
and also look at the background of you pic with Daniel, how funny
I got some pics as well

Oh my god! All your photos look soo nice! I am sorry guys, I missed you all!
The bus that I took last week had a flat tire and I missed the TOS, that's why it got pushed back this Sunday...I missed all the fun!
Though I was glad that I saw the show TWICE and definitely IT WAS MY FAVORITE SHOW last year and my PERSONAL PICK for Best New Musical!!! and IT IS the BEST Musical!!!
here's my contribution to this thread: my memories and fun times! I ALWAYS want to remember the show as this.......
My treasured photos with the lovely cast!!
As you could see from all my 44 Reports last season, I have a CERTAIN smile*** on all my pictures at PASSING STRANGE (meaning I look VERY happy!) that's not PRESENT in any of my 10/10 Reports Stage Door Photos! I dont know if you guys noticed that? Compare some of my photos in other show!I definitely cannot hide my REAL emotions in these photos about the show!
Long Live Passing Strange and it will always HOLD a SPECIAL Place in my heart!
Edit: Actually that came from (my) Chris' observation: He told me that from ALL my stage door photos from last year. He likes PASSING STRANGE photos the MOST! bec. he said... "I look very happy! " Chris personally thinks that my BEST photo from last year is the 1st one when I am standing at the PS sign infront of the Belasco!
