Thanks :) I've read his blog, though not religiously. I'm pondering on contacting him (and other cast members), but it's still not the same as looking someone in the eye, and just telling them, face to face, that you love their work. I wish I'd done that. But, yeah, I'll probably send a short thank you (which is really all one needs to say, really).
I'm in B1 on Sunday afternoon. Hey, maybe there are enough of us down front that we really can get everyone to stand up during Keys!

Place was crazy this afternoon. Spike's trucks are taking up the street and there were so many people outside after the show. They set up a buffett for the film crew & cast.

Were you in the aud. this afternoon, Jade? Met up with Joe5, our Scaryotype "leader" tonight during intermission, and we will report later. Let's just say that right now we and a 1,000 other people are shaking from an earth shattering Act I tonight!!! Un-****ing-believable!!! The whole damn place was on it's feet, and the entire Belasco was VIBRATING! Woo-woo!
Not only did they stand, shout, stomp, dance in the aisles, hollerin' - I simply can not describe it in words!!!!!!!!! Maybe Joe can later on. I'm shivering. the single most awesome, historical night of theater I have had in 35 years. I know that sounds dramatic, but it is as true as THE REAL! Reminds me of that Walt Whitman poem "I sing the Body Electric"!
That is very cool that Phylicia Rashad was there again today. She was there when I saw the show Memorial Day weekend, so her returning must mean that she really likes the show! (She and Marian Seldes -- I think Ms. Seldes is the biggest PS fan of all!)

Hey Guys, OMG!!!!! What a show tonight at the Belasco. Tiny is so right the whole place stood for Keys. I was thrilled by the whole show tonight. I don't know if I will be able to sleep tonight. EVERYTHINGS ALL RIGHT!!!! Will be playing in my head over and over.
Also I had the chance to speak to Spike Lee. He isn't sure what will come of the taping yet. And I spoke to Stew about his future. He said to me, profit for art isn't his thing. But then did talk about taking it to London. He thought the British would get a kick out of the Berlin scene. And I asked him to bring the show to Boston. And then told me, he loves Boston YEAH!!!! Also the rest of the cast was wonderful at the stage.
So I will see you all today. LONG LIVE PASSING STRANGE!!!!!!!
I think Passing Strange is going to be a show that I will be forever grateful that I got to see. I saw it a week ago a haven't been able to get it off my mind. I am so,so, glad I saw this show. It really touched me as art should. I cant wait to hear about tomorrow's performance. Thanks for this thread, Scaryotypes.I loved reading everyone's experiences with Passing Strange!
I am so jealous of everyone that will be in that theater tomorrow. But I can't wait to see what happens with the filming and am so glad this is being preserved. Can't wait to hear all about it!
And by the way, I was randomly watching a Sex and the City episode and who should I notice but De'Adre Aziza. Love her!
aliciag, I just imdb'd De'Adre, and found the episode she was in. I'm going to watch it tonight!
I can't believe everyone stood up during Keys tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing it in the release soon, whether it be in movie theaters or on HBO or Showtime. I wonder if they've considered IMAX..
If they bring the show to London, I would actually consider going. Updated On: 7/20/08 at 02:46 AM
I wish they'd consider IMAX. I was just telling some friends how I wished all movie musicals played in IMAXs, if only for the sound quality. (Though, guh, Sweeney would have LOOKED fabulous in one.)
Hey, Now that I'm a little more coherent this morning. The curtain calls last night were amazing. The Belasco was going crazy for about 10 mins. All the cast were rocking out on stage for awhile. And Stew mentioned it was there last Saturday show. And the whole cast was breaking down in tears, while rocking out. Then they left stage and came back for a final bow. Just one awesome night at the theatre.
I was there yesterday afternoon with a fellow Scaryotype (I've seen it seven times and he's seen it fourteen times). I have little to add - exhilerating and bittersweet. I am so angry Broadway audiences couldn't support this extraordinarily rich and layered mood show.
We sat next to Marion Seldes and a friend - she told us that she has seen PASSING STRANGE OVER TWENTY TIMES. She was in tears all though it and led the cheers at the screaming standing ovation.

It is a very sad day, fellow scaryotypes. Here's to remembering one of the best shows to hit Broadway this year and to what is hopefully a bright future for the cast, crew, and the show itself.
