Anekela, are we just following each other or what? I was at the matinee today as well. It's such a beautiful show! My friend came up for the day and I got tickets for us to see the show. She bought me the program. I have NEVER done the stage door anywhere. I did today. I missed Mandy and then Andrea, Janet and Olga didn't come out. I was able to get everyone else to sign my program. We did other things around the city with a group. After dropping my friend off at her bus, my mom wanted to go to the Grease stage door to meet some friends. We decided to head over to ITH again and try for the last three. They all came out. We got most of the dancers, too. My program is so pretty. I keep looking at it. Anyway, I had a wonderful time. The cast is amazing and TOTALLY friendly. It has absolutely stolen my "favorite show" spot. Am I in some club now?
Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!
Awwww, that is too cute!!! That reminds me, my cd cover is signed by everyone except Priscilla right now, I have to remember to correct that one of these days. But yeah, you're totally in some club now. :)
(ps- where were you sitting? did you hear the small burst of entrance applause for Josh? I was sitting right smack in front of that group of his friends, they were *so excited* for him, it was so adorable.)
So one of the people I took to the Heights matinee yesterday is someone who has never seen a show- ever. No Broadway, no touring, nothing. His musicals exposure consists of "I saw the movie The Wizard of Oz," lol, because "musicals are weird because people are just waking down the street and break into song..." Anyway, I am sure you all know that I am providing this setup because, fast forward to intermission at Heights, where he's texting his friends how much he's enjoying it, and so he's now looking for suggestions on other shows to see.
Saw the show Saturday evening for the 2nd time. It was SO great! I feel like it's a show I could see 16 times and never get sick of it. I don't really do the stage door thing anymore but I couldn't resist running over and getting Mandy Gonzalez's signature when I saw she had come out. She is super cute!
Will Eliseo be on as Kevin August 31st???? and Will Josh be on as Benny that day also??? Thats the day Im going and I would love to see the original members but im also excited for undertudies :)
I'm officially the worst fan ever. I haven't seen the show since it won the Tony(s). I need to get on that. I'm just the type of person who worries that seeing a show too often will make it lose its impact. I don't want to become numb to it. Well, that, and the raised ticket prices and near impossibility of winning the lottery. Would love to see Eliseo as Kevin, though. I don't know if I'll be able to.

You're not alone, LOL.
I'm a HUGE Les Mis fan, but have actually limited myself to 2 performances each engagement (well, when the 3rd national tour was still around) for fear that it would turn stale and boring after a while.
The incredible thing is that, after so many years, the last time I saw the tour, it felt like the first time. I will never trade that feeling for anything.

I saw this again with some friends on Saturday Eve, and was blown away yet again. We were there to see Josh as Benny, and we were NOT disappointed. I pray that guy gets a great gig and SOON.
There are some people in the world who say that writing stories, or composing music or dancing sparkly dances is easy for them. Nothing interferes with their ability to create. While I celebrate their creative freedom, a little part of me just wants to punch those motherf*ckers in the teeth...[tos]
I really, really enjoyed Josh as Benny. I actually think I prefer him a little bit to Chris. Chris- who is amazing and ridiculously hot, don't get me wrong- just has this sort of "womanizer" vibe that makes me distrust his relationship with Nina a little. But he's so darn fun to watch on stage, I can understand why he was cast. I just find myself trusting Josh's Benny a little bit more. Plus the fact that he has darker skin helps a lot- when I saw Chris as Benny, I thought he was Hispanic and spent 70% of the show trying to figure out why Nina's father had a problem with him. He only came back for the week. Marcus Paul James is already in his track. I hope they find a way to bring Josh back because I really had hoped to see his Benny but the timing never worked out.
Yeah I really hope that they find a way to to bring Josh back.... i mean, I know this business is effed up but I think that he should have his job back

After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofu

I've said this before, but when I saw the show with my parents, my mom thought Benny was Dominican. She even leaned in when Kevin said he mistrusted Benny and said "ah, cause he's Dominican". It's explained in the show several times, but for whatever reason, a lot of people make that mistake. Truth is, there is some rivalry between Dominicans and Puerto Ricans. It's really unfortunate, but I grew up listening to a lot of really awful racist Dominican jokes (the equivalent would be something like Polish jokes in the US). My grandfather was Dominican, and the same was true over there (ie, racist Puerto Rican jokes). So while Heights deals with black/latino racial and cultural conflicts through the Benny/Rosarios relationship , it could easily have worked with inter latino conflicts if Benny *had* been Dominican.
And My Oh My, I'm glad I'm not alone in this. I just really cherish the feeling when a show is still fresh and new. I may miss out on seeing all these wonderful understudies, but by limiting myself, it's still always a treat when I actually *do* see the show. I plan to when my sister comes visit me in late September.
