I was there on March 1st. I saw all of the understudies that are on the pic of the board. I wasn't too impressed. I LOVE this show... just never post on this thread. Nina did nothing for me. She just felt so emotionless. She was pretty quiet and didn't have a whole lot of power. Everything just felt like it was at the same level. Now, just finding out that it was probably one of her very first times performing, I guess I can't be as harsh. She has a lot of room to grow, but it's possible.
I expected more from Krysta based on what I had heard about her. I just didn't feel much for her. She didn't do the role the justice I experienced when I saw Karen.
Stephanie: I love her as Carla. Not much else to say about that!
I was there with two people who didn't care to see the show, so I let my feelings about the understudies worry me about what they would think. However, they came out LOVING it much more than they expected they would. I was very happy about that!

How are they doing that? He is no longer in the show. I know they did that last year but he was in the show at that time.

Doreen - Camila
Elise - Daniela
Blanca - Abuela ( I think Olga is back tomorrow?)
Jon Rua - Graffiti Pete
Tony C - Piragua Guy
As funny as tony is, I kind of missed Eliseo. Ther est of the udnerstudies were ridiculously good though, especially since Doreen and Elise were both on in those roles for the first time.

I missed that lineup by one show- Andrea was back for Sunday eve- how was Elise!Daniela??
I loved Doreen's Camila, loved. I thought she and Rick worked nicely together, and her "Enough" was fierce! Definitely not as angry as Priscilla does it, but instead so much more with the parental look at me/listen to me/hear me vibe (especially with the way she was grabbing Mandy's arm, cupping her face, etc.), which was so good.
And I loved that she had a Camila wig. :)

That was what I liked about her Camila (and that particular moment was actually pretty amazing). With Priscilla you can kind of believe it when Rick calls her "the dictator," but with Doreen it was more like a little joke between husband and wife.
Elise!Daniela was fierce! I honestly had no idea what to expect, since I had seen her Abuela and thought that was a pretty good fit. Her Daniela was sooo much better. My big problem with Doreen!Daniela was that the comedy felt forced and over the top, but Elise's comic timing is pretty perfect. Some of it I felt she played very similar to Andrea, but she definitely made some of it her own and it just worked. Her voice is also pretty ridiculous. Carnaval del Barrio was insane (and to be honest I am a little bit of a snob about it because that is my favorite song/scene in the show and I have, for the most part, only seen the show with Andrea in it).

I know, right? I was all um, since when does "Enough" make me feel a little weepy?

Oh- did Elise do that higher second "hey" at the start? I love that when it happens.
