Spoke to a friend who went to the matinee today and Will was out this afternoon. Jeremy Woodard was in and he did a great job with the role. He even had the cast laughing.
Jekyll & Hyde back on Broadway! / Rock of Ages - 5 Tony nominations! Awesome!
Hope will doesn't have the creeping cruddy bug that seems to be going around... It would be interesting to see someone else in the role though! I'll bet Jeremy does a great job.
Definitely will be pitching in for BC/EFA. I've been doing that each year since The Wedding Singer.
Just a few notes regarding the holiday week and adjustments to the show's schedule (and one cast note):
There is NO performance on Thursday, November 27th (cast and crew need turkey, too! LOL). To make it up, there is a performance TOMORROW...Tuesday, November 25th at 8pm.
Constantine Maroulis (Drew) will be out on Saturday, November 29th for both shows. "Drew" will be played by Jeremy Woodard (who I hear did a terrific job going on for Will Swenson as "Stacee Jaxx" at Saturday's matinee).
I am interested in getting tickets for this but for some reason I can not find where to buy the tickets. This may be a stupid question but I checked ticketmaster and telecharge and it is not on either of them unless I just cant find them. Do I have to call the theatre to order tickets or am I missing something like another website? Also do they have any discount codes for this as well? Thanks!
Never mind I just found it on telecharge. I didn't realize it was an off broadway show. I am still interested if there are any discount codes though before I order them. Thanks again
And kudos to everyone over at ROA...they're doing their 10th show in a row tonight and VERY deserving of tomorrow off to spend with friends and loved ones - hope they (and all of you!!!)have a terrific Thanksgiving holiday!
And remember...theater tickets make a great holiday gift! :)
Awww, thanks Jane2! Yeah, it was a terrific surprise to get to be a part of that visit and I'm VERY grateful...
One of my Facebook friends commented on the photo as being a "bunch of troublemakers" and I jokingly replied to the effect of "Well, with 'Lonny' and 'Dennis' missing from the photo, it could be bad news - we raided the bar moments later LOL."
Hope everyone here on the rockingest Love thread on BWW had a terrific holiday and I look forward to meeting more of you at the upcoming holiday season performances!
Just a reminder: Constantine Maroulis ("Drew") will NOT be performing at today's shows (2p and 8p). Jeremy Woodard will be playing the role of "Drew" today...and Christopher Spaulding will be playing the roles normally played by Jeremy.
Sorry, Blue...I missed seeing Jeremy go on as "Drew" but reports from those at the theater last night said he did a great job. (I had no doubt, having not only seen him as "Franz" but hearing raves about his "Stacee Jaxx" - he's able to do just about anything he puts his mind to (even running the NYC Marathon last month!).
Oh, and speaking of stand-bys...Tad Wilson was in last night for Paul Schoeffler as "Hertz" and despite it only being the second time going on in this role, he did a great job. Tad has the prettiest tenor voice...sounded especially lovely on "Keep on Loving You" in Act II. :)
The billboard looks so terrific - nice to see the producers put their money where their motorin' is LOL.
Will be at the show a few times this week and at Tuesday's Gypsy of the Year event...stop by and say hi!
Kudos to ROA's Constantine Maroulis on the donation of his $25,000 winnings on the FOX game show "Don't Forget The Lyrics" to Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS.
*yawn* Hey there, rockers! One sleepy diva stopping in with some news items from last night's show...
First of all...I know that there have been a few people on here wanting to purchase tickets for ROA for January but might have been hesitant due to a lack of confirmation as to Constantine's continued involvement in the show. I asked him tonight and I can confirm...buy those tickets, folks!!!! I didn't ask about his involvement beyond January, but he did confirm that he will indeed be in the show at least through January. Remember, there are a few ticket codes out there that are good through February!
Speaking of potential and/or confirmed departures...
Nova Bergeron (Ensemble / Constance Sack / Dance Captain) will be leaving the show at the end of the month and joining the cast of "Wicked". Her last day will be Sunday, December 28th. Dupree's loss will indeed be Oz's gain...
Still no word on a final performance date for Will Swenson...waiting...
Last night's show had a few hiccups and several fits of giggles...but once again, a terrific time. AWESOME audience...really energetic, fun crowd...as Lonny likes to say, "small but mighty."
And who knew that Stacee Jaxx knew so many nursery rhymes? Must have learned them from those middle school girls...
The last I heard from the producers is that it is "in the works" / "in the discussion phase."
I know there's a market for it...as always though, it comes down to a matter of whether a profit can be made, balanced against what is likely to be an expensive proposition with the rights for so many different songs from different artists. I believe that the acquisition of song rights for a stage show is a whole other bit of drama from getting song rights for a cast recording.
When I hear anything more concrete, I will be very sure to post it here, as always.
