Okay...since I came into work about 2 hours late due to this event, I only have a few minutes to recap.
It was funny...at first I felt SO awkward being the only fan there (and found myself saying more than once "But...but...they sent out an email! And a FB update! Fans were invited to this!!!") but after a while, after getting a few hugs from various cast members, I stopped feeling like the skinny chick in an Overeaters Anonymous Meeting and enjoyed myself.
The cast members in attendance included Constantine Maroulis, Lauren Molina, Lara Janine, Jeremy Woodard, Christopher (crap, I can't remember his last name - he's the new swing / understudy for Jeremy and Wesley), Nova Bergeron, Brian Munn, Michele Mais, Mitch Jarvis and Angel Reed.
The staff brought in the rockin' concoctions for the cast to enjoy - they (the drinks) look AWESOME...even the glass it was served in had red and blue flashing lights in its base...Everyone seemed to be really enjoying it.
There were not only several still photographers (shout out to BWW's own Peter James Zielinski!) but a couple of local TV crews (CW 11 and Fox 5)...as soon as I hear confirmation of when they'll broadcast I will let everyone know (I heard buzz it might be a part of tonight's 10pm news on the Fox affiliate - their "NY Minute" segment but as it is just BUZZ I cannot confirm it yet).
I think what also made this rather special - long time BWWers, correct me if I'm wrong - but I can't remember the last time an OFF-Broadway show was honored at S-3 with a dessert. This recognition usually only goes to Broadway shows (the last two being Spring Awakening and Mary Poppins).
I'm looking forward to meeting some of you who are going to the show tonight...please come up and say hi...
excruciatingly jealous of your signature, coolkid.....So wanted to be there. I saw the filmed version of the last performance. Wow. A bazillion times better than that m.o.v.i.e. (The touring co that came to Boston was less than wonderful, too.) Aaanyway... Cute recap, Lizzy...So glad you got to go!...Also glad everyone made you feel at home, eventually! Nice bunch of people. Updated On: 11/6/08 at 09:41 PM
Hey, ssrtfan! The cast never made me feel ill at ease for being there - it was rather last minute, in the middle of the work day, bad weather, etc. So the fact that I was the only fan there seemed weird at first, but the only person making me feel weird about it...was me. LOL
Mistress, I hope hope hope you get to go tonight...I agree...you need a whole lot of cheering up. *hug* Wish I could be there with a hug in person for ya...
Glad everyone's having fun with the show. Unfortunately I'm still in Florida by my mother's hosp. bed, but I'm hoping for the best and returning to NY sometime soon. I miss the show! Glad I can read about it in the thread.
OMG It was sooo much fun. I really enjoyed it. The Plot was a little weak but I felt that it wasn't a show that was supposed to change your life, It was just a really fun show. I really enjoyed it. I will be going back again sometime soon.
How easy is rush to get for this show? If the show sells out do they do SRO? If so how much is SRO?
Rent
The best show on Broadway. I was at the closing. BEST night of my Life.

"No Day But Today"
I was there for the Saturday night show. The house was pretty well full, but not packed to the rafters -- I saw some empty seats in the orchestra, can't speak for the balcony. Is there supposed to be an OCR? They were selling some rock-related CDs and Constantine's latest -- I would assume there would be a CD at some point. Anyone know anything more definite?
Not really sure how easy / difficult it is to get rush seats for this show - my assumption is that weekdays and matinees aren't that difficult.
I'm crossing everything crossable in the hopes of a cast recording, but I think the one HUGE hurdle will be getting the rights from all the different artists (very different from getting the stage rights, I'm assuming).
Also, there's the issue of recording each song in their entirety or recording them as they're staged (as medleys of a sort).
Saturday there were no seats available so if they were open, people did not show up. My friend and her hubby bought Standing Room for 21.50. They told me they did not see any open seats, or they would not have stood all night. So, I'd say that it was packed. I didn't see any open seats when the first act started.
Constantine just announced on his myspace that he will not be performing on November 29th.
Jekyll & Hyde back on Broadway! / Rock of Ages - 5 Tony nominations! Awesome!
Thanks for the news on the SRO situaton and on Constantine's upcoming absence, Blue4Bway (hey, your name's too long...LOL).
That likely means that Jeremy Woodard (normally Ensemble / Joey Primo) will be filling in as Drew and Christpher Spaulding will then fill in for Jeremy in his regular Ensemble roles.

p.s. Everyone, check out Peter James Zielinski's photo feature here on BWW from Saturday night...it looks like Rock of Ages had a very famous visitor...
I believe I called it the day the performance was announced - God, do I love being right LOLOLOL
It really is the strongest number as far as featuring all of the main characters in the show, yet also giving the full ensemble the opportunity to shine.
I can't wait!!!!! Through one small miracle, I've been able to get a ticket to the taping and I will be sporting my red ROA tee with pride!

p.s. For those not on the East Coast, check your local listings, as it airs at 12:35a on Saturday in the Eastern time zone. As the Internet acronym goes, YMMV... :)
Saturday night's SRO reporting in! I was undecided til the last minute (due to the presence of the dh, who normally will not go to see the same show twice, and we already had tx for Monday)...But going out to dinner with Blue&Co...everyone was going and I was feeling sorry for myself so... We literally walked in at the last minute, as did the couple beside us, who LOVED it, btw... It was indeed PACKED! Perhaps the mezz had some seats but from where we were, I couldn't see any in orchestra to slip into at intermission. They had SRO in addition to a row of temporary chairs set up in the back.
The good...SRO ain't bad! The only blocked view was anything on the top of the stairs...schooching solved that. We could dance when we wanted! We got to chat with the lovely promo lady! The price couldn't be beat! The bad...my feet! But I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Frankly, I was just grateful to have made it in. We were sitting directly in front of Mr. vanZandt, who was in the last row of regular seating...heh...wish I could have traded places with someone who could have appreciated that more...When a guy told me who he was, I just nodded and smiled...pretending to know who he was talking about (yes, I have been living under a rock...). We talked with a lovely couple from Long Island who will definitely be back and will be bringing friends..the lady took a minute after the show to purposely walk back to us and tell us what a great time they had.
The Monday night show. The Monday night show is on my short list of the best performances of any show I've ever seen. Truly. Everyone was SO "on". The voices were positively SOARING. And I had an absolutely terrific seat F108...dead center...drop dead center lol.
The feet recovered when I took off those $#)# shoes. Great by morning.
Miss Lizzy, I'm positively jealous that you're going to the taping, but squeeee for you! Can't wait to hear about it!
