I saw Guys and Dolls too. I think the show itself is good and if you have a great cast then it will be a fun night at the theatre. I think the best thing I've seen recently was "The Christians" at the Mark Taper Forum. I'm also seeing If/Then tomorrow and The Bridges of Madison County next week. Also playing in LA right now: Outside Mullingar (Geffen Playhouse) 4/5 and Straight White Men (Kirk Douglas Theatre) 2/5 (ratings are my opinion..)
I left Bridges at intermission last night. Her Italian accent was brutal, and the melodies were so boring and repetitive, the first act felt like an eternity. Hopefully If/Then will be better this weekend.
I was at Guys and Dolls last night, too. I really enjoyed it, although complaints about OSF speeding up the tempo in Into the Woods also apply here. It didn't bother me too much, though. I thought the leads were all excellent, and the set was actually really cool. Except what was up with those miniature New York models they kept shuffling around? That was odd.

Is anyone familiar with the Hudson Theater? Considering seeing Gruesome Playground Injuries in June?

I saw Dodgers and Tigers the Musical there (in two different theatres within the Hudson) and it's a good venue. Theatres are small, but seats are mostly comfortable and not too cramped.

I've heard really good things about the West Coast premiere of THE BOY FROM OZ at Celebration Theatre! Will GREY GARDENS be open at the Ahmanson by then?

I would agree with THE BOY FROM OZ. I won't be seeing it myself for another couple weeks, but it's been receiving raves from everyone. As a result, tickets are exceedingly hard to get.
GREY GARDENS doesn't open until July, but DISGRACED opens at the Taper on June 8th.
The Hollywood Fringe Festival also starts the first week of June.
If you guys are from LA follow me on Instagram: @joselee_ i literally go to the theatre every single week and more. I've seen 9 shows just in this month of may. I post the playbill/program. I HIGHLY recommend La Cage Aux Folles at East West Players in downtown LA. It starts Jon Jon (the engineer from Miss Saigon Oliver nominee and playing the role on Broadway next year) it was AMAZING. going again on Thursday.

for the rundown on HFF 16: http://www.hollywoodfringe.org/ Lots of good fun stuff there, most of it under 90 minutes and most of it $15 or less.
for info about other shows, also check out www.stageraw.com and http://lastagealliance.com/tix/, as well as (of course) Broadway World's Los Angeles page :)
BOY FROM OZ is extended into early July, and i believe, totally sold out for all dates.
I ONLY HAVE EYES FOR YOU is a 'jukebox' musical about the lyricist Al Dubin playing in Hollywood at the Montalban Theatre with a really remarkable cast (Jared Gertner from BOOK OF MORMON is the lead)

They just announced an extension and tickets are currently available from July 6 - 17. If interested, better grab them quick as they won't be there long!

I recently moved to LA and I'm trying to find out if theaters here have a lottery. For instance, is it up to the show touring at the Pantages to offer one? Or is there just a policy that applies to any of the shows? The Pantages website only has old info on their site regarding a Newsies lotto! Any other theaters with good lotteries?
I think it just depends on the show. I've only ever done a lottery once, and that was for when Wicked was playing at the Pantages for a year. I don't think I've ever come across them anywhere else.

I agree with many of the comments about "bitter lemons" I first became suspicious of this website after readingmany of the "reviews" posted that looked more like press releases. Then when I was in L.A. saw a few shows raved about and they were...not good. (No names. always good actors) Really hurts the whole industry because after being burned over and over audiences will stop believing reviews about shows that are really great.

TodayTix app has LA page and if a show has a digital lottery you can find it there.

Anyone planning on seeing this Scocese For the Record production? Very curious to hear reports when it begins next week!
A View from the Bridge was Amazing. Ma Rainey's Black Bottom is kind of boring but i appreciated the book. Heartbreak Hotel was so hyped up and it was boring.
Also don't miss "The Unauthorized Musical Parody of Hocus Pocus" at Rockwell. Marris Jarret Winokur stars as Winifred. I saw their last production of Troop Beverly Hills and had such a good time.
Agreed, A View from the Bridge was SO GOOD. Great tour cast, and I'm so glad I scored the $25 on-stage seats early on. Incredible experience.
Has anyone seen 'All the Way' at South Coast Rep? I'm considering going because I missed it on Broadway... did it ever come to the LA area before this?
Has any one done the one stage seating for View?
Are the seats padded , bench , what style?

I am considering getting the stage seats for A View From a Bridge- Is it worth it? Can you see all parts of the play? Or do you miss out on parts?
