I think your language demonstrates how little you really care about the hideous reality of murder. I care about murder, and the murder of Charlie Kirk has been denounced by every major liberal commentator/news group/talk show host out there (Kimmel included). We've said for years the gun laws are insane and need to be remedied to keep our citizens safe. It's the right who has fought this toot and nail, including, of course Charlie Kirk who said, "I think it's worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights."
If you aren't a troll and are really upset over his murder and what allowed it to transpire, you'd know all that. It appears you don't.

As I noted in an earlier post, this is the drop in Disney's stock market value this week. What happens in the weeks to come could continue that path or see a shift in direction. Boycotts of companies in the past seem to be a mix of both from what I can recall.

I agree with both of you.
I wonder if those folks that so proudly CXLed their Disney+ subscriptions also CXLed their ESPN subscriptions amidst the current football season? If they did, they haven't mentioned it."
Yes, i have canceled it all. Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN are all gone. If Disney wants to cave into the pressure of their affiliates and tick their rails between their legs, that's on them. I won't stand by them while they do it, We all draw our own lines; you do what's right for you.

The First Amendment offers protection from the government interfering in free speech and the right to peacefully assemble. Charlie Kirk was murdered by someone (we assume) didn't like what he was saying, but it's not a First Amendment issue because it wasn't the government taking away his rights.
The FCC threatening ABC over what Kimmel says is a First Amendment issue because it is the government policing what people say.
That said, almost everyone who politically disagreed with him condemned the murder of Kirk. It's just the what-to-do- about conversation usually involves Second Amendment reform, while Kirk supporters feel the solution is more along the lines of just don't criticize them anymore.

I agree with that summation. Seb28's posts constantly prove it to be true. I would ask questions of Seb28 regarding his responses, but that's proven to produce nothing but frustration and aggravation.
That said, I (personally) neither choose to, nor call for any action to block/ban Seb28. He has, on at least one occasion, said something that I can defend and agree with. I'm grateful I didn't miss that experience. That's MY choice.
RE: CXLing Disney subscriptions (including ESPN), there is research online that indicates the likelihood that the first time the next "Hamilton" comes along, people will suffer from FOMO and re-up their subscription(s). I believe that theory will hold true.
I also believe that the number of outcries that specifically call for, or mention CXLing subscriptions name only Disney+/HULU (it is football season, after all). I'm waiting for the numbers to be published.

Many on this board were more busy sticking up for the killer, slamming the right and ignoring the facts that were presented by the authorities. That shows a complete lack of understanding the gravity of this murder on their side.
And the "gun laws" are never an excuse. Why are you even trying that at this point? He could have been murdered with any other weapon.

This is about people being more upset about a canceled tv show than a political assassination. And only the latter is about actually silencing people, Kimmel is still alive and can express his opinions wherever he wants. The fact that leftists are only coming out of their grotto now to make noise about silencing people is nauseatingly evil. Also, many advertisers and investors pulled out after his remarks. Affiliates called ABC and said their stations would not carry Jimmy Kimmel's show anymore. Obviously these affiliates are in the half of the country who are republican. Either way, government interference has not been proven, the pulling out of advertisers, investors and affiliates has. So this can never be used as the reason for more riots over the tv-thing than over the killing.

This is a form of gaslighting. This is about life-supporters. What to do about it is organizing a great awakening on the left. Teaching them that it is not about "not criticizing" anymore, but about the fact that different opinions should never be answered with murder. And that that is a bigger reason for outcries than over a tv show.

Thanks John, it's nice to see a bit more character on this board.
I agree with your theory about the subscriptions, their principles don't seem to be very steady in general.
Four billion dollar lose in five days is insane. Thankfully some people know the right thing to do. Even in Australia people are canceling Disney in record numbers

Kirk was shot from a building about 200 yards away. The effective range for hunting with a bow and arrow is between 20 - 60 yards. Of course there's more than one type of weapon that can kill someone, but Tyler Robinson would have had to got much closer without a gun, and it's super unlikely he would have succeeded.

Government interfere is not something that happened behind closed doors, Brendan Carr threatened it in a public interview: "We can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to change conduct to take action on Kimmel or, you know, there's going to be additional work for the FCC ahead."
Additionally, no advertiser pulled from Kimmel's show. It wouldn't have been unprecedented, for example The O'Reilly Factor was cancelled in 2017 because of an advertiser boycott over sexual harassment claims. However, Nexstar and Sinclair bailed on Kimmel's show so quickly after Carr's threat, there logistically wasn't time to organize an advertiser boycott.
Either way, no one has rioted over Kimmel's show being suspended. Canceling Hulu is not a riot.

There have been over 10,000 deaths from gun related homicides, murders, and unintentional gun use in America in 2025 alone. Charlie Kirk being killed or Trump being shot might matter more politically, but morally all of these deaths are equally a big deal.
In that sense, there's nothing new going on that the left needs to get woke about. Even political killings specifically isn't something new. Lincoln and JFK were killed by gun violence. Sondheim even wrote a musical on the topic.
Kirk was not in favor of gun control, but he probably would still be alive today, if meaningful gun control reform had been enacted. You can theorize Democrats speaking out even more against political violence will save the lives of other Charlie Kirks, but here's the reality of the situation.
The thing Democrats wanted above all else was for people to vote for Kamala Harris last November. Tyler Robinson never voted in any election. Democrats clearly aren't influencing the guy.
Democrats control no branch of the Federal government. Liberals doing literally anything is not going to be as effective at stopping targeted killings as Republicans finally taking up the issue of meaningful gun control.

Well... I'd have certainly liked to see someone bum rush the stage with a knife to stab him. Like... even if he were able to out run the security and stab him, the probable lethality of a stabbing in a hectic situation like that is far less than a precision shot from someone with a rifle 200 yards away. Please stop playing dumb.
