You really are a joke -- and if you were actually trying to write a LONG string of "parody" comments, it would be mildly entertaining.  Unfortunately you're not -- which just kinda makes you a sad troll.

He literally never made a statement about the motives of the terrorist, lie or truth.  His statements solely mentioned MAGA trying to paint a picture to score political points.  That is if anyone actually listened to his words and if the truth actually mattered...

Silly scolding post. He had no lesson to learn. His comments were factual, regarding both MAGA (which, from the start, was trying to put the blame as far from themselves as they could) and Trump (whose "mourning" for Kirk seemed odd, as it appeared to involve only excitement over the contiued construction of that pointless ballroom).

You are completely correct, Joevitus.  MAGA was absolutely trying to pin blame on 'anyone but themselves'.  Kimmel's statement was factual.  Only MAGA ears would hear otherwise.  Poor, pathetic fools.

Those conservative free speech lovers at Sinclair (the ones who tried to extort him into a payoff to Kirk's organization) still won't air the show.

I guess that just means that us “lefties” will need to start national boycotts of all of Sinclair’s advertisers.

Like the man said —we can do this the easy way, or we can do it the hard way.

Seb28 said: "No, from the moment the evidence was presented. Which was also before the episode of the Jimmy Kimmel show in question. So they were the ones running to call the killer maga from the jump. Which is a problem. That kind of misinformation lays the basis for attacks like this."

Come on now, you know that's not true. Nancy Mace, in the hours after Kirk was shot, and before the suspect was caught, said, "Democrats own what happened today". Elon Musk said, "The left is the party of murder". Then, the literal President of the United States went live on air and spoke about how the rhetoric of the "radical left" was directly responsible for this kind of "terrorism". I would say "that kind of misinformation" is also pretty harmful, no?

They'll get bored in a few weeks and put in back without fanfare.

Actually, I thought Kimmel called out pretty accurately what the Republicans were doing in the wake of Kirk's death. It appeared to be a united, coordinated effort to seize the situation as a political opportunity, with the tragedy serving only as a backdrop. They so want this to be their Reichstag Fire moment. And he NEVER said that the assassin was MAGA, he only said that the Republicans were tripping all over themselves to dismiss any thought by anyone that he might be. Another truth by Kimmel.

Kimmel's greatest sin was not anything he said, but his failure to anticipate a reaction from a a political movement that has such contempt for the truth that they routinely torture the truth until it tells them exactly what they need for it to justify their festering hatred for "the other".

Do we care that Nexstar and Sinclair will boycott his return?

It totally matters if the boycott continues long-term. Kimmel's viewership is going to be up tonight, but after that without Nexstar and Sinclair in general, his linear ratings will almost certainly go down. Even if online views go up for his show, that's harder to monetize.

The boycott makes it more likely around future renewals that ABC would cancel the show for financial reasons. But it's not something worth worrying about today, especially since Nexstar and Sinclair can start airing the show again at any time.

Disney needs to take a stand against insidious organizations like Nexstar and Sinclair or risk losing control of all content. Nexstar and Sinclair’s long game is to control all content on all small and mid size market affiliates, particularly news and information. They are extreme right wing organizations and their self produced content reflects that.  These guys make Fox look like MSNBC on steroids. As I suggested in another post, Disney needs to fight back against this sort of manipulation (and extortion attempt) by offering the same (free) network content via cable or streaming in the affected markets. I’m not sure, but ABC may have the option of offering the Kimmel show to other local affiliates if Nexstar and Sinclair decide to dig their heels in.

So the answer is no, we shouldn’t care that they boycott, but we should care about their ultimate goals, and Disney needs to stand up to these dirtbags now before it’s too late.

I read somewhere that Kimmel's contract is up in May. I would think that they'll just treat him like Colbert and let his contract run out (regardless of any financial reasons they may use s a smoke screen).

I'm kind of in favor of that.

I look forward to Colbert's monologues every night now that he has absolutely nothing to lose. I'd be very happy to have TWO hosts exemplifying that same "FU" attitude (although I think Colbert inserts more intelligence).

I miss John Stewart. I could feel placated with an angry Colbert and a renewed Kimmel.

I do! But you're talking about like he's dead and tbh, he's lost all his bite anyway.

It's also Jon Stewart.
