Not the production I would have expected to announce plans for a Broadway transfer, but I'll take it. I hope it turns out to be true, as I love the show and am still dying to see it revived.
It's really interesting. Between this, the London production, the Toronto production, and the OBC reunion concert a few years ago, it seems like the piece is almost over-ripe for a Broadway return. Everyone wants to do high-profile productions of it, but none have managed to make it to Broadway as of yet.

The production at the Sig was incredible. It could transfer with the entire DC cast and be in the conversation for a Best Revival Tony. Especially with that set....

There is nothing in the article about any actual plan to stage a revival of Titanic - not this Korean version, not the Signature version - or the Charing Cross version I saw in London (which I think is the same as the Southwark and Toronto stagings). The South Korean set and lighting does look stunning and I love the score. But, I just don't know who, when and if this will get a commercial Broadway revival. These new versions show that the strength is the score, which really shines in a smaller limited staging - and while such limited staging has worked for Come From Away and The Color Purple revival, I just don't know that Broadway producers can resist going "big".

Wonder who they'll consider for Jack and Rose, the 2 pivotal roles. Also, Molly Brown and the Strauss couple.

So this South Korean production is the same one that played in DC?

The production is beautiful, but they need to fill out the orchestra. It sounded a bit thin at Signature Theatre. Also, the show is a VERY hard sell, but it would be phenomenal to have this show back on Broadway again.
Also, I strongly disagree with the poster above that says Titanic shouldn't be "big." The show is all spectacle. That's kind of the point. A beautiful score paired with beautiful visuals.

I disagree. I think the story itself is quite epic, but that could be paired with a very simple staging. And while the DC/Korean version looks nice, I wouldn't say that the staging is "big" in anyway. It's a blank stage with a bunch of staircases. I think the way to make this show successful is to turn it on its head - Sunset Blvd style - and do it very small scale. It's a gorgeous score and story, but you don't need all the spectacle. It somehow lessens the story.

The video of the Korean version looks fantastic and makes me want to see this show. The whole idea felt cheesy but after seeing the video, I'm more on board. I hope that the version does eventually make it to Broadway.

Spectacle is the only way this show can be successful. It's an incredibly poor book that requires little to no emotional involvement, so you have to be wowed the whole time.

The idea of Laura Osnes becoming Carol Channing in her dotage truly made me laugh out loud.

Posted: 12/3/17 at 4:41pmI would kill to hear Jeremy Jordan sing “Barrett’s Song”. This also one of my favorite musicals score-wise and I sincerely hope the talk of a revival is true.

Any links to criticism or reviews in English of the Korean production? I'm particularly curious what the response is like in a country where a large maritime disaster (Sewol ferry) is very much a part of recent memory. It must resonate differently there.
