If Lucas Steele can't get a nomination this year, then I can't wait to see the five people who somehow block him...

Not fully convinced about Eva. She didn't get the Olivier nomination in a weaker category.
I'd say Bette, Christine and Patti then two out of Christy, Denee and Phillipa (if Amelie comes in this season).
I really feel like Phillipa Soo stands a strong chance if Amélie makes it in this season. Christy Altomare also got uniformly positive reviews out in Hartford. Natasha is a beautiful role, but I'm wondering if Denée will be left out by a strong spring showing.
We'll also have to see how War Paint does once it hits Broadway. We all thought Audra was a cinch for a Tony nom this past season because she was the seasoned veteran, and we all know what happened with Shuffle... It's just such a (blessedly) dense category.

If it transfers, isn't Ride the Cyclone a new musical and not a new play?

Whoops, yup! Looks like I got that lost in the shuffle. Thanks for the correction; edited

Does Ride the Cyclone have commercial producers? I didn't realize there was interest in moving it.
Holy crap Ride the Cyclone sounds awesome! Had never heard about it until now. I'm sad it won't be playing off-broadway over the holidays so count me in with those who hope it transfers!

Whatever happens, cheers to an incredible year of new musicals!
James Cordon has been announced to host the 2017 Grammys, so I think it's safe to say he will not be back for the Tonys as well.
I would love for Nick Kroll and John Mulaney to host as their Oh, Hello characters.
Bumping this thread since there's a bunch of traction on the Best Musical thread, in case anybody wants to raise other Tony prediction discussions

i see no reason why great comet wont pull a hamilton, aka all major awards and the 3 acting categories besides josh. anyone who's seen it would agree

I'd love to see Brandon Uranowitz get a nom for his gorgeous portrayal of Mendel in Falsettos!

Not a chance. For starters, unless she is godawful, Bette Midler is probably getting that Tony. The female supporting roles are also probably too small- the only real chance the show has in an acting category is pros ably Lucas Steele, but there's not really a frontrunner at all. At this point, I would be shocked if it didn't take Best Direction, since I doubt anyone else will come even close to the level that Rachel Chavkin is working on.

Their show is likely going to close by Tonys if it doesn't keep extending. So apart from getting good buzz to get an award, them agreeing to host depends on what their plan with the characters are - they might want to take the show on the road, or London maybe? I can see it being picked up as a television special.

I have a reason, and it's called Dear Evan Hansen. (With Bette Midler as a secondary reason)
Based on these DEH reviews tonight...I'm thinking definite locks for tonys are the best Musical, Ben Platt, Rachel Bay Jones, Pasek/Paul, and Steve Levenson....IMO the only way set would be nominated is if the projection designer is nominated with Korins.
I think Natasha will get a number of noms
As for now locks...
