This is definitely cool. An original RENTer is posting on our board.
Anthony,
I'll pray for you.
----
It's too bad that you won't be continuing with LSOH. I have tickets to see it in Atlanta. You'll be gone then if you leave in December. Oh well, I wish you all the best in filming RENT, I'm sure that it will be a wonderful new take on the great show. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
Best of luck,
Dylan

I agree, Zoran, its too bad Anthony isn't staying with the tour, but I think the Rent movie is a fair trade-off for fans fans of Rent and Anthony!

That reminds me, anyone can answer if you know, but do all members of the touring Broadway shows have to do absentee ballots for the elections???

"That reminds me, anyone can answer if you know, but do all members of the touring Broadway shows have to do absentee ballots for the elections??? "
Yeah, I asked that in the previous page of posts on this thread....With the little thought though I gave it, I think it has to be true, unless the tour is in the place where you are registered to vote...I think if you want to vote you'd have to do the absentee thing...
I wouldn't know 'for sure' though (I asked the same question earlier for that reason hehe)

The Dallas theatre was a major pain in the ass, although the audiences seemed to enjoy themselves regardless.
By the way, since you all know more about me than I know about you, tell me a little bit about yourselves: age, where you live, what you do, etc etc. It's only fair, don't you think?
Wow, first of all - I miss this thread for a day or so and it's almost impossible to read it all! I'm in my very early 30s, live in TX (sorry about our former governor/current leader by the way), I teach very precocious 2nd graders, and corrupt their little minds by playing Broadway cast recordings daily (telling them it's "brain music" to help them think) Only kid-friendly shows, of course
~Oh - caught Little Shop twice here in Dallas, and like someone pointed out - our theater is terrible. Sorry Anthony. If I'm not in the front orchestra of that place, I have to get the hearing impaired earphones because the sound system sucks. The production, however, was outstanding. Anthony - you were very kind to speak with people after the show - and it's been great having your thoughts here as well....
~Crime shows? Addicting. Thank God for Tivo.
~Current Broadway cast? After seeing the OBC and just about every subsequent cast since? I think they are actually in great shape at the moment - and I've never seen Caplan perform the way Broawayguy describes. He's always had the best characterization of Mark that I've seen since '97 -- at least he was still dead on as of two months ago (last time I saw the him).
Type-A-Tiff -- A criminologist? What in interesting job. I'm incredibly jealous....
Speaking of precocious 2nd graders, it's report card time and I'm procrastinating here instead of working......

My name is Krissy, I am 22 years old, and I live in Germantown, Maryland. I am a student, attending Montgomery College in Maryland, and am preparing to transfer to Maryland where I hope to obtain a degree in Journalism. I also do community theatre when I have extra time.

Well, when you put it that way... You're right. It's only fair. Not that I mind. xD
My name's Gen, which is short for Genevieve, which I still have to double-check the spelling of after fifteen years of living with it. I'm a sophmore in a large school ninteen or so minutes out of Philadelphia ("Gewh, Rowiels, gehw. Yieyah.") Between taking electives, box-officing and ushering in the Performing Arts Center, rehearsing for the spring musical, and taking part in "Summer Stage," a childrens' theatre program that turns thirty this coming year, it's become my second home.
End shameless plug for the PAC.
I don't really know what to do with myself for college. There's English and journalism and drama and photography and education, but not medicine or law. Ah, well. I've got two years, and until then, getting past Algebra II is a good goal.
End!
May the lesser of two evils win tonight. Or tomorrow. Or two weeks from now.

Hey anthony. I'm Bradley, sixteen years old, theatre student in south florida. I'm getting into the professional stuff now. I have an agent in nyc and do the theatre program in the summer sort of a thing. Stuff and thing. Oy. Anyways, you're absolutely wonderfulm of course. I am a playwright, I've directed some school productions, and I act constantly (luckily). I go to Stagedoor Manor, but I would love to hear about Interlochen. They do advertise you as an alum. My favorite musicals: Caroline, or Change, Rent, In Trousers, Elegies, March of the Falsettos, Company, Sunday in the Park with George. And plays, too many to mention. did you get to see Caroline? I hope so, though who knows if you did or would have liked it. I'm new to the board, also, and it is a beautiful idea that we're all talking together about our silly little thing called theatre.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Are you related to Adam Rapp? I read Nocturne by Adam Rapp in the book store a few months ago. It was one of the most incredible things I have ever read, so beautiful, and the language...Just impeccable. So if there is any relationship, say hi for me. What respect I would have for your family if he was, and I would stop bothering you with accolades. If not, oh well. I'll never post to you again in shame.

I picked up a copy of Nocturne a few days ago and I just started reading a few pages and I'm getting sucked into it. After the commotion on this thread dies down, is anyone up for discussing it? I'd like input from people who've read it and people who've seen it because I've got my own opinions about the staging, etc and I'm curious to see other people's perspectives. (Even if your name doesn't end in Rapp, I'd like your input as well.
)

I'd be up for it...always up for discussing a good play...
I *still* need to find my sopy though...but I'm sure if I looked through my room I'll eventually find it amidst the disaster...
+ I actually asked Anthony about the staging in the 'latebreaking RENT CASTING NEWS' thread and he gave an answer....give me a sec and I'll post what he said in an edit...
re-edited to remove bit o' nocturne....

Don't know much about where to find plays... do they sell them in bookstores like Barnes and Noble or do I have to order it?

You can probably get it at B&N. It's a pretty popular play.

Yeah... that's not my style... unnecessarily mean at a time where most people (here, both on the boards and in my town, etc,) don't want to hear it... I give you guys respect because the Golden Rule is engrained in me and it says so ("Do onto others..."....I was a very obedient child...)
I'll repost that edited part of the past post and try to bump it...(i dont really know how but i can try to figure it out...)
and insomniak--
I got my copy of the play on amazon.com...if you look there you can find it at a nice price from the marketplace sellers (or just from amazon, but the marketplace sellers can be so much cheaper for a new book)...
