I do a pretty good Carol Channing impersonation, and my friends and I have a game called "What if Carol Channing Starred In..." where they say the name of a musical that Carol Channing was NOT in, and I sing a song from the show in my Carol Channing voice.
For example, just think of Carol Channing in Rent singing "Today 4 U." Pretty funny, right?
The whole thing cracks my friends and family up so much, I've decided I'm going to post some on youtube.
So that said, any ideas of shows or songs that would be awful but hysterical if Carol Channing sang them? If you have any suggestions, post them below.
"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert
I took my boyfriend to see "First Wives Club" in San Diego for his birthday. We walked out of the show knowing that the rest of his 26th year could only go up from there.
Now to get this thread back on track, here are some songs I want to do as Carol...
“My New Philosophy” from You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown “A Call From the Vatican” from Nine “Aquarius” from Hair “Getting Married Today” from Company “Pick a Little, Talk a Little” from The Music Man “Wouldn’t it be Loverly” from My Fair Lady “My Strongest Suit” from Aida “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” from Dreamgirls “I Enjoy Being a Girl” from Flower Drum Song
"Electricity" from BILLY ELLIOT "Defying Gravity" from WICKED "I'm Not Wearing Underwear Today" from AVENUE Q "The Bitch of Living" from SPRING AWAKENING
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Not Broadway-related, but I'd LOVE to hear Carol Channing do Madonna's "Erotica."
Salve, Regina, Mater misericordiae
Vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra
Salve, Salve Regina
Ad te clamamus exsules filii Eva
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
O clemens O pia
Do I Hear a Waltz, the Bride's Lament, Adelaide's Lament
"All our dreams can come true -- if we have the courage to pursue them." -- Walt Disney
We must have different Gods. My God said "do to others what you would have them do to you". Your God seems to have said "My Way or the Highway".
No, not "Erotica"... do "Justify My Love"! Or "Justify My Thug" Jay-Z's version from THE BLACK ALBUM! In addition to a FWC song, of course! Pretty please! I need to hear the "Wanting. Needing..." part!
Back in the '60s, there was a feature in Playbill having to do with unlikely casting choices, accompanied by a Hirschfeld drawing. One of them was Carol Channing as Lady Macbeth. True, there would be no songs for her to sing in this, but if singing is required, she could always do one of the arias from Verdi's opera.
So Much Better- Legally Blonde Come to Your Senses- Tick Tick...Boom
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
Hahahaha JP, think we could do a Carol/Harvey duet? I'm thinking "Sue Me" from Guys and Dolls, "Do You Love Me" from Fiddler on the Roof, or "Tonight" from West Side Story
