Defying Gravity. Man could that chick sing it and teach Idina, Shoshana, Saycon, Ana, Stephanie etc etc what its all about. Anyone know if she has ever sung the song and if so where I could find it?
I don't know if she's ever sung it anywhere, but I agree with you. Orfeh is a force of nature and I would listen to her sing ANYTHING. Have you heard her sing "Maybe This Time"? And I'm not talking about the version she sang at Feinstein's - she sang it in the show she was in in AC, and she tore the roof off of Caesar's Palace.

I was so happy that her and Andy sang "Suddenly Seymour." I thought it was VERY cute.
Clearly, her and Andy are cuter than life itself.
Her singing Defying Gravity would be phenomenal, because she wouldn't have to scream or anything like that. It would be wonderous.<33

I was just talking to a friend yesterday about how kickass it would be if Orfeh could play Elphaba. Or at least SING Elphaba. Definitely sing "Defying Gravity". And I'm not even a Wicked fan.
I'd seriously listen to her sing anything.

Ha. Did anybody else know what this thread was going to say before they even opened it?
I'm not saying I don't think she'd tear it up, I'm just enjoying the fact that it was so predictable.
Orfeh can do anything.. I'd love to see her as Elphaba. She would be off the fahizzy.. she'd also make an awesome replacement for SRS in Dirty Rotten..
Not only would Orfeh be able to sing it in a way it's NEVER been sung before, she's probably the only person who could make us ALL forget about IdinaEdenShoshanaStephanie. Seriously, it will be the first time anyone sings the song without looking like they're going to hurt themselves and pop a vein. She can sing anything. And now that I've seen her in her Pippi, long brown wig, looking just about as beautiful as possible, I can't imagine why she wouldn't be offered the role. I know Al is going to yell at me for suggesting she take over a role, especially that one but Al, she'd be amazing!
I wouldn't "yell" at you Rup, it's simply a case where, the creators should have, imo, cast Orfeh in the first place and for whatever reason did not. Now, there have already been over a half dozen people who've played the role and Orfeh is better than being relegated to being the 8th or so green witch. She should continue to originate roles. Even though Trailer Park has received mixed to poor reviews as a show, there's no denying what absolute raves she and the rest of the cast have garnered. That is still better for her status than whether she's "the most amazing elphaba".
Now casting her as the next (and what would be first) Lady Of The Lake replacement, is a whole other story. It seems painfully obvious to me.
She would make a very good and convincing Elphaba, although she physically resembles Glinda more. But, as Al said, I doubt that she'd want to be the 439th Elphaba replacement at this point in her career.
I think she would make an amazing Lady of Lake, however, I think she's too good to be a replacement, you know what I mean? Like, whoever replaces Sara, and then they bring Orfeh in because they want her, not just to replace Sara.JMO
I would love to hear Orfeh sing the role of Elphaba, but I'd rather her not be in the show, because it would become kind of like, not 'Orfeh, the girl from SNF and Love,Janis, and Trailer Park,' to 'Orfeh, the girl from Wicked'. I think she deserves more than that.
Just my two cents though.

Heh, I was just going to post, "you know what she SHOULD do, she should have a cabaret..." but I missed the boat on that one the first time around. So, really, she should just have another one.
Where/when did Orfeh do a cabaret?!? (And where the heck was I?)
Feinstein's at the Regency, back in March I believe.
Broadway.com still has their video feature from it up - http://www.broadway.com/gen/Buzz_Video.aspx?ci=508132
Cool, thanks. I wish she sang more showtunes on it. And I wish there was video of her in SNF online somewhere!
She sang Maybe This Time?
*die*
Don't worry, I missed it too. Meanwhile, I couldn't agree with you all more about Orfeh being way too good to be the 346th replacement of anything, let alone, Wicked.
Yes, Emcee... and it was orgasmic.

i m not sure why 'wicked' is such a big deal. my two cents-- i had more fun at 'trailer park' and 'love, janis'! orfeh was not the top singer at 'janis' though...beth hart, cathy richardson and andra mitrovich ALL rocked 'janis' harder! great singers! (saw the show a bunch of times--my girlfriend worked the bar).
From what I heard, Orfeh was the best of the musical theater people hands down. People like Kristen Lee Kelly came and went practically overnight!

you might be right there. the singers i mentioned were all hard rockers...in fact beth hart's current special on MTV is awesome...especially the finale at the piano singing 'l.a. song'.
Yeah, singing all that Janis in one night is a big challenge for a musical theater performer. Think of how much belting Elphaba does in one show vs Singing Janis. I think Janis is Elphaba times 10!
Well, either way, Orfeh's pretty damn amazing.

Does anyone have her CD from the early 90's? Is it worth tracking down?
