Has anyone had any luck with It Shoulda Been You? I really want to send a request and ask if Lisa will sign my 9 to 5 and Spelling Bee playbills, and if Harriet will sign my Cry Baby playbill.
@gleek4114 I received a cast-signed playbill from It Shoulda Been You last week. It took about 4-6 weeks.
"Mostly, I loved the size of these people's emotions. Nobody has emotions this size anymore. Outsized emotions. Operatic emotions. Kushemski and Vanda are like Tristan and Isolde, they're Paolo and Francesca. Nobody's in total thrall like this anymore. Nobody's overcome by passion like this, or goes through this kind of rage." I saw On The 20th Century on Friday, and I went to the stagedoor, but as soon as we got there we were told that Kristen had already left. I still waited and got to meet Peter Gallagher. I've sent fan mail before, but is it too risky to send my playbill to her so she can sign it? Has anyone had success sending things to her?
I've heard mixed results from people who have sent her fanmail recently. Some people have said that her assistant just sends pre-signed head shots and others have said that she actually signs and returns the things that are sent to her.

No dice with OTTC, and I sent a cast-signed playbill request to the SM three months ago. The only Roundabout show I ever have received a response from is Cabaret.

Sorry I'm totally new to this donation thing (I haven't been on the Boards for years until recently and I never even knew you could request a signed playbill!). I would like to send in a $30 donation for a cast signed playbill to Something Rotten, would someone be so kind to let me know where to send the money to?
You send the $30 (check or cash) to the Stage Manager along with your letter request for a cast-signed playbill and a SASE. They will make sure that BC/EFA gets your donation (If you're sending a check, make it out to BC/EFA). The address is:
Something Rotten ATTN: Stage Manager 246 W 44th Street New York, NY 10036 USA

Has anyone had any recent success with Gavin Creel? I sent to him on May 8th and heard nothing back. should I be worried?
Also I sent to Amanda Seyfried's off Broadway show to the SM on June 1st. Anyone had any recent success with the stage manager? I love her and I hope I can get a signed playbill before it closes
The SM for The Way We Get By fulfilled a batch of mail-in requests about a month ago, but I don't believe they've sent anything out since. More requests might get fulfilled once the show ends. A lot of SM's from short-running shows will wait until after the show closes before they fulfill playbill requests.

Has anyone heard anything from The Spoils? In late May I read some success stories about Jesse signing pictures TTM. I just sent to him yesterday and I was wondering if anyone knew how long it would take. I heard back from Gavin Creel yesterday!! Took a month and 9 days. How about the King and I I read one success story and it was pretty recent so I sent to them and It shoulda been you! How long do you think they'll take to get back? what about Aladdin?
Am I doing something wrong when it comes to sending a letter to get signed cast Playbills back? While I haven't sent many, I did send one to "If/Then" 6-months prior to it's closing. Along with "Gigi", "The Audience", "Airline Highway" and "Grounded". I know "Grounded" is closed so that's a lost cause. But the other three I sent over two months ago, and nothing.
I send it to the theatre's stage door - c/o stage manager... along with a letter requesting a playbill. And a return self-address envelope.
Should I be doing something else? I've included $1.50 postage... is that not enough?
I do live in New York, does that make a difference? I've seen all of the shows I've sent to, but with the big cast a lot of them don't come out the stage door.
@JM_loves_broadway I don't believe that you are doing anything wrong. There could be many other reasons why shows don't respond that have nothing to do with you. I send a letter request to all shows and the only of your list that I have ever heard back from was If/Then and Airline Highway. I don't know if Gigi responses, but I believe that The Audience may have never held a signing party where they signed playbills. During the BC/EFA collection period, they were selling cast-signed posters, but no playbills which leads me to believe that they don't have them in the first place.

@JM- You're not doing anything wrong. But I think that Playbill collecting through the mail has gotten much, much more difficult even over the last year because of more publicity about it on forums such as this and Tumblr.
More shows are opting to not fulfill fan mail requests, or are requiring a donation be sent. For example, If/Then was requiring a $20 or $30 donation to BC/EFA to receive a Playbill (I don't remember the exact amount right now). Other examples include that Jersey Boys is requesting a $20 donation, Something Rotten wants $30, and Beautiful requests about $40 (at least during collections it is that high).
Of the other shows you mentioned, I don't think The Audience has been fulfilling requests, but Helen Mirren has. You could try writing to her directly. Airline Highway only sent a limited number out in the beginning of the run (no, I didn't get one if you are wondering; I didn't write). And Gigi has not sent out any responses. But sometimes requests are fulfilled after a show closes, so there is still hope for you on that one :)
"This is the address that he usually responds to fanmail from. I'm sure many people send him gifts, he's a legend! Let us know how it goes Stephen Sondheim Douglas & Kopelman Artists, Inc. 393 West 49th Street Suite 5G New York, NY 10019 USA "
Actually, that's not the address anymore. It hasn't been for probably eight or ten years. I don't know what it is anymore. I haven't gotten in touch with him through a rep in a long time. But he is on the council of the Dramatists Guild, and they're good about forwarding mail to their members.
In the last week and a half or so I heard back from Carey Mulligan from Skylight, Amanda Seyfried from The Way We Get By, Charles Shaughnessy from Ever After, Justin Bartha from Permission, and today I got my vintage 1980 Evita playbill back signed by Patti LuPone and a cast signed pride playbill from Shows for Days <3
PM me if you're interested in purchasing or trading signed playbills! I have a large collection! :)
I just sent my "Idolmaker" CD to Peter Gallagher to get signed. I hope he replies, because I'd love to surprise my mother with the CD for her birthday.

@loliveve I sent a letter and donation to Something Rotten nearly 2 months ago and have yet to hear back. Maybe they're going to be sending them out in waves like Finding Neverland.
