As January 4th and January 11th approach, what final shows are you all going to see? If you are going to be seeing more than one, which one are you most excited about seeing? Of the show's that will be saying good-bye, which one(s) will you miss the most? I'm seeing Liza on 1/4. Of the current closings, I will miss "Hairspay" the most.
I will be at Hairspray and Grease on January 4th. The one I will miss the most will definately be Hairspray! It was my first Broadway show!
Wow...a double feature! I'm going to "Hairspray" tomorrow matinee. I had not planned to go, but than couldn't accept the fact that I while i had seen it twice when I lived in DC, I hadn't gone to see it again since moving to NY last year. I've gotten so used to looking for stuff on TDF, TKTS booth etc...and suddenly while I was walking to work yesterday I thought....duh...I'll just pay full price! I was glad that there were still good seats avaiable for tomorrow.
I'll be at Hairspray on Sunday, but plan on seeing Grease and Boeing Boeing this weekend as well.

I'm seeing HAIRSPRAY sat. night and being a JRB fan I'm seeing the last performance of 13.
Not the right dates, but I'm seeing Spring Awakening's final and a bunch of new stuff that weekend as well.
The American Plan
Becky Shaw
Garden of Earthly Delights (not AS new, still...)
Think about it: we cannot save what is closing; but we can work towards the rest of B'way (and off b'way) succeeding!
No big surprise here...I am going to the off-Broadway closing night of "Rock of Ages".
But...that being said, I think Hairspray will be the biggest loss of all the January 09 closings.

'13' closing night.
I'm not going to any closings but I am going to Marcie Dodd's last show in Wicked on Jan 11th.
Shocking. Gypsy is closing on the 11th & you decide to see Wicked for the 40th time.
I'm going to the final performances of HAIRSPRAY and ROCK OF AGES on the 4th and GYPSY on the 11th
I'm seeing the final show of ALL MY SONS.

I am going to Spring Awakening.
Gypsy on the 11th.
Surely the audiences at each show will be wildy enthusiastic. I wonder which show will get the longest ovation. I bet there will be a lot of applause for Harvey and Marisa, when the show starts or when Edna makes her first entrance. I'd love to be at the St James when Ms Lupone says "sing out Louise". The crowd will probably applaud for at least a few minutes.
coolkid is.
Spamalot on the 11th for me. I think for me that is the greatest loss. I did enjoy Hairspray when I saw it, but not in the same way as seeing Spamalot twice.

Gypsy on the 11th, and I'll miss that the most. I'll also miss Hairspray; it's not one of my favorites, but it was really so enjoyable. I don't have an actual interest in any of the other shows closing, but sorry to all the people who loved them.

The real question is, how long untill coolkid starts begging us for closing night tickets?
I say 12 hours!
Oh yeah, I forgot about Gypsy. Well, that's a second loss for me. I won't be able to see it again though. I can't get a second day off of work, as I already have to request the 17th off for Phantom. I know that's not closing, but my sister got me tickets for Christmas.
I always wonder what's going through the heads of the audience members who just happen to be at the closing performance, not knowing it's closing, only to be subjected to applause every seven seconds.

No surprise here.. I, God willing, will be at the final performance of HAIRSPRAY. A friend and I are driving down to the city from Buffalo early Sunday. I'm also excited to see how the crowd reacts to everything. I predict that Harvey will get show-stopping applause at his first entrance and IKWIB will earn a standing ovation. Here's hoping the crowd rocks. We already know the show will.
