I think Zendaya could be good for Nessa Rose her star is really on the rise at the minute too and she's become a household name."
Since this thread has started I’ve been saying Emmy Raver-Lampan. So I just wanted to agree with you and put it out there again. Because that casting choice needs to happen."
I scrolled through this whole thread hoping someone else thought the same thing as me. I would LOVE to see Emmy Raver-Lampman as Elphaba. She's my #1 pick. It makes sense for so many reasons. Also agreed with someone else, would love to see Catherine O'Hara or Julie Andrews as Morrible.

Streep will get the first offer and if she passes it will spiral off from there. Dozens of ladies ages 50-90 could play the part perfectly adequately.
The Wizard can also go dozens of different ways and is another opportunity to cast a bigger name... Hugh Grant, Sacha Baron Cohen, James Corden, Steve Martin, Sam L Jackson, Gary Oldman, Chris Walken, Hugh Jackman. etc etc etc
Everyone says Steve Martin, but Martin Short might be interesting as the Wizard... I think he’d get the “corny and smarmy with something nasty and cold hidden underneath” better than anyone since Joel Grey.
Since Sentimental Man likely will be cut (well, I mean, I skip it when I listen to the OBCR), I have no idea whom they will cast for what would/should be little more than a cameo. Since Wonderful might stay in, Christopher Walken would have been good, um 15 years ago. He's 78 now. So long as it is not John Travolta or Russell Crowe ....
Unless, by the time the film actually gets made, Ben Platt is old enough to play the Wizard....

^ THIS!
Martin Short would be amazing as the Wizard. He's a great actor - both comedic and dramatic... and he's got a terrific voice.

I might be wrong, but I don’t think Andrews has done any singing roles since that surgery ruined her voice. With that in mind, I don’t think her first would be Morrible, especially given it’s such a thankless part.
Anyway, I’d like Ariana DeBose as Elphaba. Feel like she has the combination of powerhouse vocals and grit.
It's funny. I dashed off the Martin Short thing as a fluke, but it just sounds right. (I'm not gonna say "cast his longtime collaborator Maya Rudolph as Morrible," but... I wouldn't be terribly unhappy.)
The Wizard is the rare role that might actually BENEFIT from Short's uniquely leathery baritone and warbly vibrato.
Streep’s very unlikely to do this film, she apparently refuses to play witches. She only broke that rule for Into the Woods because she always wanted to do a Sondheim musical.
I do like the idea of Martin Short as the Wizard. He’s got the right voice, and I think he can play charming with a touch of danger well.
Anyway, with who’s been mentioned for Morrible, I support Catherine O’Hara. But only if they let her do what she’d want to do with the role. Because as written it’s a very boring part, but I believe she could bring out that unique quality she always brings to her parts to make it a bit more memorable.
Still not sure who I want for Glinda. I’m hoping someone on the younger side. As several people seem to think, I believe they’re gonna go for a bigger name for her while picking a smaller one for Elphaba. I also feel like we’re not gonna know one until we know the other, and they’re not gonna choose the other young characters until those two are sorted out, as they could be picked anywhere from early twenties to thirties, and they’ll want the others in that range to look similar.
I’d love to see Helen Mirren as Morrible or Miriam Margolyes reprise her role. I feel like Meryl is far too obvious the choice. Jessica Lange or Susan Surandon would be terrific choices. The way they can play the camp while adding depth would be an interesting take on Morrible.

However, I think Movie Musicals will be being made quicker now that Broadway is closed. Movie Theaters will open sooner than a Live Theater will, said by true.. I personally miss the live experience..but I would settle for a movie musical.
Look at what's being made and what is going to come out
- The Prom: Netflix 2020
- West Side Story : December 2021
- Dear Evan Hanson: rumor has it out by 2021
- In the Heights: 2021
If Broadway was thinking right they would record the show like Diana has and put it out on streaming..
Any Thoughts.. ( These are my thoughts)"
Wicked in no way need the streaming opportunity that Diana did. The pandemic created a thirst for streamed theatre to sate theatre fans and Diana (a show that will likely bomb) used the opportunity to raise its profile and reach an audience, nothing wrong with that. It suggest that Wicked are somehow wrongheaded in not doing the same is foolhardy. Releasing your treasures and diminishing your future ticket sales is not a smart business move.

Julie Andrew did sing on The Princess Diaries 2 (and then on her Netflix show) and has talked about how she learned to be comfortable with "sing-speak", which could fit Madame Morrible (and she doesn't even sing that much, I'm having trouble remembering anything but the start of The Wizard and I).
Whoever said Susan Sarandon, that would be so amazing. I can just picture her talking to Glinda during The March of the Witch Hunters.
Zendaya would never take the role of Nessa (or would she?) but I can just picture her transformation from sweet to bitter as well.
