I think Zendaya could be good for Nessa Rose her star is really on the rise at the minute too and she's become a household name."
Since this thread has started I’ve been saying Emmy Raver-Lampan. So I just wanted to agree with you and put it out there again. Because that casting choice needs to happen.

In one of the videos I posted she says she started learning extensively after Les Mis because she hated her performance in that film and didn't believe she could sing. So she may have been doing lessons since 2012 which would put eight going on nine years of training behind her. It's since lockdown she has been doing lessons three days a week and she has mentioned in previous interviews her teacher is Liz Caplan.
I'm not say she is a done deal but I would like to think she has improved to a point were if she is going to make broad statements she can atleast back them up. She has also said her biggest regret is that she stopped training to sing opera at 17 and decided to become an actress so that's why he voice was very thin and her vibrato was messed up, because she wasn't properly trained.
If not Seyfried the only other choice I can think of besides going into the theatre world would be Dove Cameron.
Someone from the theatre world who’s recently crossed into TV is Ashley Park, and I think she would be a great Glinda. I’m surprised (well, not too surprised...) that she hasn’t played the role yet.
I recently saw the new clips of the Korean cast of Wicked and I’m having trouble thinking of a better Fiyero than Seo Kyungsoo. I’ve never seen or heard anyone better in the role/pants. Whoever they pick for the movie will pale in comparison.
I stand by Bette Midler as Morrible and Steve Martin as the Wizard. I also see them going the Dreamgirls route of, "And introducing _______ as Elphaba."

Seriously, that the production looks LIT all around. For me, the international productions outside of NYC and London much of the time feel flat, but this one looks and feels just as good. That cast also looks stellar.

The same Jenna Leigh Green who would be at least 47 by the time this begins filming? (assuming they could actually get it up and off the ground by this fall, which doesn't seem all that likely)
I have a feeling IN THE HEIGHTS might dictate some of the casting discussion. If it does incredibly well, that could give Chu more leeway to cast whoever he feels is best for the role (since ITH and Crazy Rich Asians had casts of virtually unknown actors); otherwise the Universal brass might lean a little more heavily on "stars."
Cynthia Erivo's name value seems kind of perfect for this –– she's not bigger than the property, but she's also an Oscar nominee. And we know she'd sing the hell out of it. There are so many women who could play Glinda (from Dove Cameron to Ashley Park to Rachel Zegler and plenty we've never even heard of).
Both roles also depend on how young he wants to go. It could very well be 20-year-olds for more realism, which would mean they're probably unknown.

The fantastical and "cool" elements of Wicked put it more in line with ITH or Mary Poppins Returns or a sci-fi movie than West Side Story or DEH. Especially when it comes to budget:
ITH –– $55m (no star salaries). It can gross $150m and Warner Bros will be happy, but they're hoping for higher AND awards attention. Having seen it, Chu could win Best Director and Abuela Claudia could win Best Supporting Actress.
WSS –– $100m (Spielberg gets the budget he wants, but I don't really see this making a profit for Disney)
Mary Poppins Returns –– $130m ($350m gross, which is ok but not fabulous)
Beauty and the Beast 2017 –– est. $200m budget ($1.2bil gross)
DEH –– probably costs $20-40mil
Wicked should cost at least $100m+, meaning it will need to gross $300m+. But Universal will be hoping for much bigger numbers. They'll also be hoping to make money from the soundtrack and merch and whatnot...this is a major property for them that could fill the coffers.
