And apparently Andre Ward is taking his place.
Isn't Sean Palmer doing Mermaid?
I'm bummed, I wanted to see him in this. Get better, James!

I wanted to see him in this, too. Hope he gets better soon. And for the record, his dancing did get better in "Saturday Night Fever", which I saw many times, but it was after the critics had already reviewed the show.
Ive seen the show and thought he did a great job. I also kept thinking he really would have made a great Link in Hairspray- the character has a similar endearing dimness.
That's awful. Poor guy

Perhaps Matt Morrison can get out of 10 Million Miles a few weeks early. It closes mid July.

Per Broadway.com, he's officially left the production.
It should be noted that at this time, he will not be performing in the show. As to whether or not he will return to the production (official word on the extent of his injury and recovery time) are unknown.
As unfortunate as this is for him (and I hope he gets better and returns to the show) I cant help but to think that this could be good (free) publicity for the show in general. I mean, how often does the leading actor break his foot on roller skates? It just shows how unique this show is and that could attract ticket buyers (plus its not like Carpinello’s name was selling any extra tickets)
This makes me sad...what am I going to look at when I go see the show now? Well at least I saw it once before he broke his foot.

So I just missed him.

So do you think this Andre Ward broke Carpinello's foot himself? Or did he contract out for it?
kidding, only kidding.
"On what is probably a really terrible night for this actor, posting things like "he couldn't dance in SNF and can't skate in this" probably aren't the most productive things to do."
queenbee2, this site has never been known for it's tact or compassion. I'm not saying it's right but if you are expecting basic human decency you have come to the wrong board.

NO WAY!!!!!! I was going to travel up to go see that show!! Will the show run long enough for him to come back??
i really am hoping they bump Curtis!
i LOVE Andre and he'd be great in that role. he's such a sweetheart too
As much as I would love for them to bump Curtis up, I don't think I can bare to see anyone else do the tap dance. He's just so amazing. And Andre as Hermes is hysterical. Maybe they can bump Marty Thomas up.
It's sad because James is one of the people in show who can actually skate! He used to play hockey, and you can tell he is comfortable up there. Kerry doesn't do so well, but she is working on it.
Curtis has this great tap dance in the show. He is a fantastic dancer, and would be great in the lead...

I was walking home from work when they were putting him the back of the ambulance. He looked like he was trying really hard to put on a brave face...but it was evident how much pain he was in. I feel so bad for him. What a sweet guy...how sad to have worked so hard only to be painfully stopped right at the start of the run!
I hope James will be well again soon.
As for the previous post regarding Sean Palmer, he is currently in rehearsals for the upcoming Disney Show 'Little Mermaid' for the Denver Try-out & Broadway Production
I hope Cheyenne comes in and takes over.
That'd make my life. .
This is terrible news. I sure hope he makes a speedy recovery. Is Joe Machota, Austin Miller or Tyler Hanes available? Perhaps one of them can skate into the role.
