What I'd like to say (and I hope/assume the mods are aware) is that if you read what others say about this board online, we can sometimes be the laughing stock of bad behaviour, BUT people still come here including industry people because they want to know what people here say.

Unlike reddit or TikTok we have a lot of people that are a little bit older, who have been seeing shows and posting detailed reviews for years, who are willing to have interesting discussions. This is what we offer - if we don't offer this why would people come here over reddit or ATC (I suppose our biggest competition is ATC but people will often read both boards).

It's also certainly one of the reasons I come here - I often don't care to read what shallow comments people on reddit have about theatre, and outside the NYTimes and maybe a one or two others I don't really care what critics these days have to say either. But I am interested to know what people here think.

I think the board is still decent quality but I think there are at least 2-3 relentless posters who seem to misbehave AND don't seem to be contributing to the entire reason why we actually exist and what we're known for. Why do we put up with this?

I know I am sometimes in the middle of the some of controversies here but I always make an effort to try and stick to the discussion at hand in good faith,  I try to avoid being personal AND - for better or worse I KNOW that I am a net contributor to the actual theatre-related content of this forum. I choose this place to be my vehicle for talking about what is likely a slightly unhealthy obsession, but I don't have to.

I think it's ok if you tighten up the moderation of those who continue to engage in discussions in childish and unpleasant ways - ESPECIALLY if it doesn't feel they are a net contributor.

We need to recognise who actually provides value here and who is dragging everyone else down, and use this to help inform moderation and other decisions.

The more you can't control this, the more noise and unpleasantry, the less content, the more contributors lose interest and go elsewhere......you will distort the value that this forum brings and the long-term outcome in my opinion is the forum will be in decline and have no real reason for existing anymore.

If a poster seems like they could be on The Jerry Springer Show or would be turned away from a bar that's probably too far..

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? "I think she's definitely a real person. I just get big "theatre kid who was/is the favorite child in high school" vibes from her, and that it carried into adulthood. And I think, to an extent, the mods also allow that space for her. It's a trope that all adults must lose at some point."

In another post, I mentioned PM she sent me a little over a year ago. She lied and said another poster threatened to kill her. I verified this was a lie with moderators because if true I did not want to deal with the poster who supposedly made that threat. Let me add something else for you and others. In that PM, she called me a "horrifying f****** monster" and she came off IMO as "unhinged" in that PM. Yet here she is today posting away.

So, we all know she is a liar. We have seen examples of her being mean and condescending to posters. She went off on a few posters a while ago because they committed the unforgiveable sin of making punctuation errors.

Well, enough about her. Sad, that she derailed thread which was well intentioned. I admit a played a part by responding to her posts, hope I refrain and don't do it again in the future.

Sutton's a scary case, indeed.

I would also point out that, as someone who has done the stage door quite a bit (not as much since the pandemic, though), the vast majority of people at the stage door are respectful, and enjoy a mutually gracious exchange with the actors.

It's the ones who aren't respectful, and who view it as an expectation (along with insane people like this dude), who ruin the experience for everyone else, including the actors. And who will eventually, I still think, cause stage dooring to become a thing of the past. Which would be unfortunate for the actors who do enjoy doing it, but safety comes first.

Oh boy, sweetie. You’ve got your work cut out for you tonight. You sure do have a lot of posts to report! But I have faith in you! If anyone can be an obnoxious troll and then report every single post that stands up to you, it’s YOU. Get to work!!!!!!

Seems tame tbh

I had the honor of being called "a special kind of Dexter/Trump/Sociopath character that refuses to be wrong (you're wrong daily FYI) and spends their entire life on here. It's pathetic and everyone sees it. Get a job. Go to college. Get some friends. Get a family. Maybe then you won't be the living worst who can't put their phone down and obsess over a Broadway message board."

I won't  recount her many filthy attacks and accusations against me.  They are part of the BWW record.

But, I did learn that if I responded to her craziness with just one word, it seemed to send her into a frenzy and she would move on to her next target.  At least temporarily.  The word:  NAH.

So wherever and whatever and whoever you are, Sutton Ross:   NAH.

Don’t worry. As soon as America’s Sweetheart wakes up from her beauty nap and sees all these posts, she’ll have the entire thread scrubbed and ultimately deleted. And anyone who has dared to speak against her will get a warning from the mods.

The mods need to address this individual’s behavior publicly.  It’s never okay to treat others the way Sutton does. It’s never okay to allow this behavior to go unaddressed.

Also, it’s delicious knowing how frequently Mutton Sauce is refreshing this thread, reading every single word and gnashing her teeth at being exposed (again) for being a bully and a liar.

Maybe there’s an FX Ryan Murphy series here… has anyone actually met sutton? Is it a disgruntled star trolling us all? Perhaps it’s the mods trying to shake things up (I’m kidding!!!). American Crime: The BroadwayWorld Dramas of 2018 (or was it sooner?!) and 2019 and 2020 and 2021 and 2022 and 2023 and 2024 and 2025…

"Seems tame tbh"

There was a bunch more to her rant but just gave a couple of highlights. I was not upset by it, just trying to point out that if I had said this to her, I would have been suspended for long time IMO. I was suspended once for saying something most people would view as "snarky" not something awful.

Should the folks over at ATC expect more posts from Mockingbird Girl, now that Sutton has been outed and is keeping a low profile til this goes away?

Okay, hear me out… I’ve said this before years ago and I still stand by it. Sutton is Broadway Concierge for those who remember when this place was unbearable—back when she was the self-appointed queen of BroadwayWorld, with enough sway to get other people’s posts deleted. BC disappears, then suddenly SR shows up.

Most of the time I can mentally zone out and scroll past the trolls, no problem. But when they hijack every thread, that’s when I finally block them. I only use the block button as a last resort though, because it can make threads confusing—until someone quotes them and I’m like, “Ahhh, now it all makes sense.”

In all the years I’ve been on here, there are four posters I’d call the most toxic parts of BWW: BC, SR, Liza’s Headband, and Jim Coyler (yep—Jim Coyler, White Supremacist. Remember when JC,WS was literally the only openly racist one here?).

Yikes, I had put those names out of my mind long ago. (Don't worry though, we still have white supremacists- you can watch them in 30+ pages of gross debate over casting in the Maybe Happy Ending thread that the moderators have somehow not intervened in at all).

I do suspect that the odds that the same person has been behind the returning troll account and the various accounts that are less trolling but more hostile/aggressive are not low, though.

My god this went downhill fast. Sutton is...special. Does anyone else often feel like there are two different people tweeting from her account? Sometimes the posts are so mild and considered and then the next you're the worst person to ever live or post.

One thing I doubt about your BC/SR theory is that BroadwayConcierge was a self-avowed Trumper, which SuttonRoss definitely is not.

Speaking of people who aren't around anymore, what was the name of the ubiquitous poster from several years back who hated Sondheim and most "modern" musicals? He would say things like (in response to Fun Home): "young ladies in Broadway musicals used to attend box socials; now they sing about Joan's ass in her Levis." I was thinking about that person the other day, but couldn't remember their BWW name.

After Eight! Someone described them as a piece of performance art. They famously said the last new musical on Broadway they enjoyed was La Cage.

I dug up this gem of theirs, also in re: Fun Home:  "If a child is going to sing in a musical, let it be about about tea with jam and bread or a cuckoo in a clock. And to nice music, too, not some sickly whine."
