If I was in NYC!! I'm just almost 5'3" and I love to sing!! Come to Oklahoma!!

As someone told me lately: "Ev'ryone deserves the chance to fly!"... He's there, the Phantom of the Opera!... I dreamed a dream in time gone bye... This is the moment! My final test!... PS. Couldn't choose just one :-)

*Braces himself for the stampede*

Hairspray calls are always INSANELY packed so get there REALLY early (I mean like, 5-6am-seriously) if you want to have a good shot at getting seen.

I've seen people camp out overnight a la American Idol to audition for Hairspray and Fiddler.

Actually, the audition notice does say something about being chunky. It says "Must be heavyset." broadwayguy2 just gave the basics, but it does specify being overweight.

It also says not to show up before 1:30pm.

SEEKING:

TRACY TURNBLAD Female, height of 5’3" or shorter, late teens – 20s to play high school age. Must be heavyset. Outgoing, unstoppable, goodhearted with a vibrant, lovable, spirited personality. Loves to dance. Becomes a teen heroine, integrating the local TV teen dance show in 1962 Baltimore and gaining the affection of Link Larkin, the show’s heartthrob. Needs a fantastic pop belt singing voice. Role originated on Broadway by Marissa Jaret Winokur and played on film by Ricki Lake. STARRING ROLE

Equity Procedures are NOT in effect. Producer runs all aspects of the audition.

If unable to attend and would like to be considered for future auditions, mail photo and resume to: Bernard Telsey Casting; Attn: "HAIRSPRAY" – Tracy; 145 West 28th Street, 12th Floor; New York, NY 10001.

Notes/What to bring: Please prepare to sing "Good Morning Baltimore" from HAIRSPRAY if possible. If you cannot prepare that song, please prepare to sing any 1960s-style uptempo pop song. We might not need you to sing the entire song. Bring sheet music. Bring photo (snapshots are OK) and resume stapled together. There will be no dancing at this audition; everyone must sing. Non-Equity and Equity performers are welcome. We are seeking new talent; no previous theatrical experience is necessary.

Gahhh, why did I have to be cursed with these extra 8 inches?! And why do I have to be a male?! And WHY do I have to live in TEXAS?!...
