What do you guys think of Disney making Hocus Pocus: The Musical? I just watched the movie for the hundreth time and I still think it is hilarious! There are already two songs ("Come Little Children" and "I Put A Spell On You") and they fit in well, as would other new songs I think. It would also be awesome if they could get Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najime (spelling?) back to reprise their roles. I know Bette can sing and Sarah does pretty good in "...children". And her and Matt Broderick must be accustomed to the NY Broadway life by now! What do you all think?
My only concerns would be that it didn't do all that well in theaters, but most people I talk to say they love it nowadays. And though Wicked can pull off using Witches year round, Hocus Pocus takes place on Halloween which may be a problem. Just some thoughs...

Posted: 10/13/05 at 8:38pmI love the movie, but since all the songs in the movie were the witches' way of casting spells, I don't think adding more songs sung by other characters would work.

See! I knew people loved that movie! I just bought it on DVD actually!
I think if they are going to do it they should definitley try to get Bette, Kathy, and Sarah back for the show! It would be awesome!
Then for when those stars left, they could get stars like Marissa or Jenn.
There could be tons of music for this show! Anybody have any ideas for parts when there could be music? I

Posted: 10/13/05 at 9:21pmwouldn't be hard to add more songs...because people randomly sing in musicals...so it doesn't have to be just the witches. The hard part might be they would need a lot of children...and children on broadway is hard. especially esemble children.

Yeah, the kid part would be a little tough. i"m sure they could come up with something.
It would be awesome if they could get some really cool machines to make them fly around the stage! Not like defying gravity style, but really moving and stuff with capes that blow in the wind.
And the costumes would be so cool for the witches. The ones in the movie are great!

That'd be brilliant if it was turned into a musical. I loved this movie so much as a child and still do.

..Cause if they dressed a full size man in a cat costume, it would be reminiscent of Cats .. and .. just .. no.
Maybe he could turn into .. another .. animal? Or ... they would have to cut out Thackery. And that would make little children cry.
