I don't think we've heard anything since Sorkin dropped out. Offficially.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
So far all that's on his schedule for next year is publicity for "X-Men Days of Future Past" which he's filming now through August. Besides filming that, July will be promotion for "The Wolverine" (out July 26) and then in September promotion for "Prisoners" out Sept. 20 (rumor is that may go to the Toronto Film Festival). As of right now, no word on what he's doing after that.
Word is from some producers that were getting ready to back the show that Jackman has decided not to do it, and if they do bring it in, it won't be with him. Now, that was heard 2 weeks ago, things could change. I am sure his agents are turning down offers one after the other. I was looking forward to it.
He doesn't know everything...although he might think he does...there are some sources he doesn't have. As I said, I was told it could change but at that time, he had decided against it. The reason? I have no idea. I just am saying what I heard from a reliable source. I wanted him to do it, do anything on the stage and I would be happy to get a ticket.
Not too surprised with that development ( Hugh losing interest in the project after being attached to it for so long). There may be a number of attractive options for him at the moment( movies and theatre), given the current upsurge in interest in his career, and hanging on to a project that doesn't seem to be moving in terms of development does not make sense.
His new movie, PRISONERS ( trailer featured on BWW elsewhere), could be another direction that his film career may be moving to.
However, I hope there is another theatre show that awaits his return to Broadway soon!
I still think Cerveris should do the damn show. I've championed this **** for YEARS. Back when Elfman was doing the score. I don't even know who's doing the music for this anymore... +++++
That is indeed very sad. Back in February 2013 in an itnerview he still said he likes to do it and that he hopes for it to start in one year, means February 2014.
I saw now that James Racheff is the one writing the book. Is that a new development? Didn´t noticed his name on that side before.
Agreed- with Big Fish, Rocky, and Honey Moon in Vegas already planned, that's a lot of male oriented/male perspective musicals - without Hugh jackman not sure there is a big audience for this
Sorry @behindthescenes2, but your info is incorrect. Jackman is still attached to the show. Schwartz is hoping to finish the score by the end of the year and a reading (with Jackman) is scheduled for December.
Jackman has been offered the lead in CamMacs new Les Mis production to open next year in Melbourne
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian
I'm with you Kad. He was miscast in The Boy From Oz as well. Oh, he gave a good performance, but he was not Peter Allen. Bio-shows don't need a simple impersonation, but should have a lead which can resemble or evoke the person.
Houdini is as much a legendary figure to today's audience, so he could pull it off. But, can Hugh pull off playing a small, Jewish immigrant?
Discussion?
"Through The Sacrifice You Made, We Can't Believe The Price You Paid..For Love!"
"Jackman has been offered the lead in CamMacs new Les Mis production to open next year in Melbourn"
Would he prefer to take the lead in a musical which is already played like a million times to a compleate brand new musical (of Stephen Schwartz) on Broadway? I hope not.

If we leave out the "small" part, then yes. Updated On: 6/2/13 at 05:45 AM
Playbilly didn't Hugh win the Tony for the role, yes he did not sound like him at all but neither did Frank in Frost/Nixon and they both one tonys. Its not supposed to be cliche.
In film, which probably goes for more realism than the stage, Hugh Jackman has had a very successful career interpreting the role of Wolverine. The beloved comic book character is scruffy, bad-ass, and only 5'3" -- while Hugh is a foot taller. Yet, he is now on his 7th appearance as the superhero, 13 years after he first took on the role ...and the series is FOX's most successful franchise.
Re the Les Miserables offer - it is doubtful that he would be interested to depart from his definitive interpretation and realistic portrayal of the role ( acting and singing) in the movie musical adaptation, an effort that was the result of his artistic collaboration with film director Tom Hooper and the film's creative team. The cinematic concept was somewhat different from the intention of the creative team for the stage production.
In the meantime, the trailer for his movie release towards the end of the year, PRISONERS, has drawn much interest for its dramatic intensity, its stellar cast led by Jackman, and a strong creative team ( Villeneuve,Deakins, etc). Who knows - this may lead to new film scripts in this direction for Hugh?
