i was at the show tonight... what a great audience, i was very impressed... seemed to be a lot of tossers there! The cast at the stage door was very happy with the audience.
Was a wonderful night... i think they are having a great time and enjoying the performance... SO after "Nine Peoples" again, this is the 3rd time i have witnessed this! :)
i sooooo can't wait till oct when i'm up there, the cd will be played several times on my drive to dc today.

Is it the greatest thing since sliced bread? No. Did I laugh harder and identify with it more than any show I've seen recently? YES!
I saw pieces of so many people in this show--my partner, myself, my daughter, friends--either in certain traits of the characters or in the overall theme of trying to make a dream come true and all the triumphs and trials along the way. "Die Vampire Die" should become my daughter's mantra--so much she wants to do but so little self-confidence--and I told Hunter, Susan and Heidi that and they were so sweet. supportive and encouraging. Maybe I'll have to run her over to the stage door when we're down there see to see (ewwwwwww) the Jonas Brothers at MSG.
I got very close to crying three times...once at the end of "Die Vampire Die" because of Susan's monologue and the use of it I've seen here, once at the end of "Nine People's Favorite Things" because basically a lot more than nine people have recommended it here, and at the curtain call just watching the sheer joy in Hunter's face. I agree, broadwayjim42, with what you said about Hunter's face at curtain call. He looks so freaking happy and it's just the cutest thing ive ever seen.
And everything's that been said about the stage door is so true. They're all amazing...don't know why I didn't say anything to Jeff about my daughter...maybe I was afraid of overkill:)
I saw this show last Saturday matinee. Downstairs was full and the audience (a real cross section of local and tourist theatre-goers) was ready for a good time. Rehashing the arguments about the simplicity of the show and whether or not it belongs on Broadway is pointless by now. It did not seem to be too small for the Lyceum, which is very intimate. Knowing I was seeing the original cast who were also the subjects of the play kept me very involved. So much is added by the direction, which you cannot see when listening to the OBCR. I think anyone who has wanted to create something or dreamed 'big' can relate to these people. There is no way that the chemistry could be recreated by other actors. It was comic joy and I'm so glad I saw the show. Go TOS!!!!!
I love Seth! I love the coverage that [tos] is getting! Everytime I come on the boards and read that more people are loving the show I get all excited!!
In that article Seth mentions some people's disregard for [tos] because it's too insidery, and makes a great point that some of us [tossers] have made!
That Chatterbox was amazing...so much [tos][luv]! But for people who didn't get the chance to go, Seth does a pretty good job of retelling some of the stories (not to mention conveying the precocious energy of the interview).
The last vampire is the mother of all vampires and that is the vampire of despair. It'll wake you up at 4am to say things like:
Who do you think you are kidding?
You look like a fool!
No matter how hard you try, you'll never be good enough!
Why is it that if some dude walked up to me on the subway platform
and said these things, I'd think he was a mentally ill as-h-le,
but if the vampire inside my head says it,It's the voice of reason!
DIE VAMPIRE, DIE--[SUSAN in tos]
I saw Michael Berresse, the director or [title of show] at the Chatterbox, and he told me that he sat in the same row as Betty Buckley during the show on opening night. She loved it and during the curtain call, the cast was receiving thunderous ovations. Betty leaned down the row and said to Michael, sweetly but sternly, "Stand up and get on that stage right now!" which, of course, he then did. Nobody turns down Grizabella!
Hahaha, aww I love Betty Buckley! And Seth. I hope BWW radio does broadcast it because it sounds like it was a lot of fun
I was at the Sunday matinee, won the lottery and got front row center. I was so excited.
It was my second time seeing the show so I knew how much fun it was going to be but I did not imagine that it would actually get better since the last time I saw it. The energy was SPOT ON. I was so moved and cried, again, during DVD, A Way Back to Then, AND Nine People's.. Afterward, I got my [title of show] bag signed and my DVD shirt signed. I only went to the stagedoor originally this time so that my friend could have the honor of meeting these geniuses and I wasn't planning on taking pictures. But, after I had taken the picture of her and Hunter...he was like "you don't want a picture!?" And I said, "I got one last time! I don't wanna seem like a photo freak." He replied, "YOU NEED TO DOCUMENT! We need updates. UPDATES!"

Meet John Doe, to Little Mermaid to [title of show].
"Critics and audiences were wowed by her scintillating Helen Hayes Award winning performance as Anne Mitchell in last year’s Ford’s Theatre’s production of Meet John Doe, and now Heidi Blickenstaff is starring in [title of show] at the Lyceum Theatre in New York City, where she sat down with one of her biggest fans - me-- to schmooze about [title of show]’s journey to Broadway..."
I hope you enjoy it and feel free to leave a comment in the LEAVE A REPLY BOX. Joel
I truly loved this show! I saw a matinee this weekend. Each of the cast members is so absurdly talented and fun to watch! I have a huge admiration towards Susan Blackwell, who I think is soooo funny! "Die Vampire, Die" is absolutely hysterical... and "your note is my note's bitch!" -whaaa? love it! "totes" awesome!
^^ I agree, Susan is HILARIOUS! I found myself laughing at her lines the most, her delivery is perfect. Especially the "shine a flashlight in my butt" and "I didn't have a line until now".
I think Heidi has incredible stage presence. I love watching her onstage.
You're that little girl with her wings unfurled, flying again.
Back in your backyard dancing...I found a way back to then. - [title of show]
I really did love Heidi in Meet John Doe. She was fabulous, I was so happy for her when she won the Helen Hayes Award! :)
I sent them a letter during their first week of previews, and I just got back an opening night playbill, signed by everyone! Of course, I'd rather have actually gone to see the show in person and gone to the stage door to get it signed myself, but this is a good long distance substitute.
I know I've posted this before, but a good friend of mine had loved MEET JOHN DOE with Donna Lynne Champlain ever since he saw it in workshop. He was so looking forward to seeing it in DC (he's a huge DLC fan) and was dissapointed to hear that Heidi had taken over for her. He came back and told me that Heidi had blown Donna Lynn out of the water. So now of course he's a Huge Heidi fan!
Of course, when he mentioned all this to Heidi at the stage door a few weeks ago, she keep talking how truly amazing DLC was!
"Hurry up and get into your conga clothes - we've got to do something to save this show!"
