I'm glad you gave the show a second chance, Yankee!

A wacky Lyceum atecdote: I was at Saturday's matinee, and Christine Ebersole was sitting a few seats over. When her message played, most of the people around her (who recognized her) cheered and clapped and she hid her face with her hands but was laughing, as were her companions. She seemed to truly enjoy herself the entire show.
In all respects to him, I kind of got the same vibe broadwayjim42. Now I know a lot of people on here have seen the show multiple times and gotten closer with the cast, but I'm just saying with my one time meeting him he was not as "warm" for lack of a better word at the stage door. Not that I'm expecting him to be ecstatic and hugging every fan who saw the show, just an observation.
Here's my story with that...I told Hunter, Susan and Heidi about my daughter, her show-biz aspirations and her vampires.
Maybe it was because I was verging on story overkill, but when Jeff came around, I got my autograph, said thank you and didn't really feel like saying anything else. I simply did not feel as comfortable as with the other three, who were so incredibly sweet.
I definitely felt more comfortable around the other three than I did around Jeff. It's not that he's not a nice guy (because he is), but he just didn't seem as "warm," as Jim said,.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...

I saw the show for the third time yesterday and had to stage door again 'cause I introduced a third friend to it and she wanted to meet them. (Six more people!) I get the feeling that Jeff feels a little awkward talking to people he hasn't ever met. I think he's just a little shy. The other three seem to be incredibly comfortable just getting on a friend-basis with a lot of the fans. Some people find that easy and some find it rather difficult. I think, as time goes on, Jeff'll warm up a little more to the [tos]sers.
I wish I had an opinion. The time I saw the show I wasn't able to SD, I had dinner reservations. I'm sure they are all amazing in their own ways! I so wanna go back to watch the show and meet them!!
So jealous of everyone who has pictures with the cast as their avatars! LOL! jk :P
Ok, so I have tickets to the show in August and I don't know much about it except for the fact that it's a musical about a musical. My mom and I bought tickets thinking it would be cute. Will we "get" the show? I've heard people who haven't followed [title of show] don't understand it. Convince me that I'll love it!
I knew very little about the show before I saw it, just the basic premise and that a lot of people love it. I had never heard any of the music, watched any of the blogs, or anything like that. I totally got it and LOVED it. Now I'm a bit obsessed and cannot wait to see it again. You obviously like theater, since you post on this board, so I think you'll get it just fine.
I'm glad I didn't try to go to stage door my first time; I had no idea it was around the block so I would've been standing out front like an asshole. Next time I definitely want to meet the cast though, especially Susan. I have more than a bit of a girl-crush on her.
And can I rant for just a second and say how irritated I am with people hating on [tos] without ever seeing it? For example, here is what a friend of mine told me - "To be honest I am iffy about seeing title of show because (and this isn't because i read it on BWW though I do agree with it) of the whole "look at us aren't we clever." - and he has never seen the show! If I can get him to see the show - I'll convert him to a being a tosser!
-- opinions about things they have never seen before? It happens.... hahaha
biggest CHENO fan- there are plenty of people who haven't being following [tos] and became converted to [tossers] when they saw the show, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. I don't think people's like or dislike of the show is based on that.
lastly, if you're going to 'make' me "Warmth-o-meter" these guys, I've got to give my kudos to Susan and Heidi for remembering me and being super friendly with me (I saw the show for the 3rd time last night and I chatted with both of them for a bit and they were super smiley, thanking me for working on bringing my 9 people, as I had another friend with me) where as for the guys it's more vague recognition- though they are still super nice. Also, when the cast saw my best friend and fellow tosser at Borders without me (I had work-boo) Susan apparently asked- Where's Nathalie? which cracked me up and put a smile on my face. But no matter, I have such a great amount of love, admiration, and respect for the whole crew! I'm just afraid I'm going to go into [tos] withdrawl when I go back to school in 2 weeks :o
...it'll get here, oh, it'll get here...

I think that the [tos] stagedoor is my favourite stagedoor experience! I saw the [tos]gang at ticketganza and saw the show July 19th and they remembered me!!! Well, from ticketganza and from the fact that I posted on their Facebook walls :P
They are all so appreciative of their fans, even if they don't show it the same way. Hunter is definitely huggy-huggy and Heidi is chatty-chatty. LOL. Jeff, I think, is a bit more shy and reserved and I can see how he can come off a little colder and more distant than the rest of them but he genuinely cares.
I've seldom read a review for ANY show that so bubbles over with such warmth, erudition and enthusiasm as Michael Feingold's [tos] write-up in the VOICE:
The appeal of [title of show], the tiny Off-Off phenomenon that has now moved up, via Off-Broadway, to become an enthusiastically received new Broadway show, lies in its simple sweetness....[title of show] not only gives you four new people to meet, but cannily exploits their contrasting personalities to show you that each is gifted—and appealing—in his or her own way. Sharp-featured Susan Blackwell's sardonic line readings suggest a stereotypically barbed personality until Hunter Bell's book lets her reveal the compassion and wisdom behind the barbs, as well as the frustration that aims them. Heidi Blickenstaff's cheery, buxom-barmaid persona (Frans Hals would be happy) is enhanced by the big, round vocal tones that Jeff Bowen's music allows her to unpack, conveying a passion well beyond simple ingenue cheeriness.... They're young, they're funny, and they're telling you they're not going
"Hurry up and get into your conga clothes - we've got to do something to save this show!"
this review is absolutely amazing. So smart and well constructed...I feel like he touched on so much of the heart of the show...one of the first times I've ever been like "YES! He GOT it!" about a reviewer/critic.
I also Personally enjoyed this quote so very very much: "And Bell, who suggests a daydreamy, wide-eyed, gay Tom Sawyer fantasizing about Broadway stardom as he lolls under a tree in some small town..."
