On "Monte Cristo" I would go with probably a mix of both cause I like them both
PORKY'S would make a COOL Musical
REVENGE OF THE NERDS......this would make for an AMAZING musical
I can really see ANIMAL HOUSE as a Musical too.

But I think we could go with MA BAKER (Boney M SOng)
and maybe some other stuff would be cool. I still think The Wedding Singer sounds retarded... Sorry.

In the current popularily of Jane Austin, I think Sense and Sensibility or Pride and Prejudice would be interesting.
For movies, I think Big Fish would be interesting, and I completely agree with Finding Neverland.

Bonnie and Clyde was done this past September at NYMF.
Finding Neverland is supposedly being done with Allan Knee writing the book and Andrew Lippa doing the score. I seem to remember Jason Robert Brown being initially announced as the composer but apparently that didn't work out.

The question shouldn't be "why hasn't there been a musical of..." but rather "why should there be a musical of...?" In other words, why is musical treatment of a particular property necessary? How does it reconceive the work and make it something new, instead of a retread? What new insights are gleaned from the addition of lyrics and music? These are questions most of those writing in musical theatre today would do well to ask themselves.

as for an original idea: my friend and i thought it would be interesting to make a musical about a cancellation line in front of a theater on the last weekend of a touring broadway show. it's based on when we went to try for tickets to wicked when it was in san francisco. we went on the last weekend and we finally got in. yay! :)
