i totally agree with "Sleeping Beauty" as the next Disney-fied musical to hit Bway! i think they should keep the Tchaviosky score and songs, but it would be awesome on stage (Kelli O'Hara as Aurora, Chita as Malificent).
Broadway needs originality if it wants to survive. That, and the Disney Corporation should be destroyed.

I agree with the "Tootsie" comment. I turned the movie "Somewhere in Time" into a musical. Our school might perform it if we get the rights with the original movie producers and company. Do you think that a moive like that would make a good transition to Broadway? (not knowing my music of course but the storyline)
Earlier Fosseboi said about Adams family... I think that would be hilarious. I could imagine being a Mel Brooks type thing

"Nightmare Before Christmas"?
With additional music/lyrics... I personally think it would look stunning on stage.

Call me crazy, and hit me upside the head with a potsmoker stick, but a Napoleon Dynamite musical would be something I'd buy tickets for.
Either that or the songs of No Doubt or Blondie pulled together like a Mamma Mia or a We Will Rock You kind of way.
hahahahaha American idol: the musical! Thats already been done, to an extent. If one is interested see: From Justin to Kelly
THE BIRDCAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about a musical version of POCKETFUL OF MIRACLES? It was originally done in 1933 as LADY FOR A DAY. Bette Davis starred in MIRACLES. I believe it was based on a Damon Runyon story. Great vehicle for a star in her fifties or sixties.
I know I'm a little late on this, but the comments about Finding Neverland: Allan Knee, the librettist of Little Woman and the author of The Man Who Was Peter Pan, which was the inspiration for the movie Finding Neverland, is currently working on adapting the movie into a musical.
As far as the others, I agree that Dead Poets Society would make a great musical. Alright, you composers, get to work...
What about Kissing Jessica Stein? I think that'd make a really interesting, funny musical.
no I have never seen it but now I will lol, disregard my stupid comment from before.
I still think that Robin and Nathan should tap and ballet across a stage tho :)

Earlier in this thead there was a suggestion that ANASTASIA would work as a Broadway musical. There was a version in the 1960's entitled ANYA and it starred Constance Towers and Michael Kermoyan.
Mr. Roxy, are you serious.....The Texas Chainsaw Musical, Psycho The Musical, and The Mummy The Musical.....im sorry but i think those would make terrible musicals.
Personaly i would love to see Benny and Joon as a musical....or The Nightmare Before Christmas....i think it would have great costumes

Svengali, the 1931 movie with John Barrymore.
ladyofthelake...I've always said that No Doubt songs would make a great musical!!! And you could probably get a decent storyline out of that. I'm seeing a touring rock group and their tales from the road. Perhaps throw in a little romance and a harsh break-up...the possibilities are endless.
Okay, this is one of my serious problems with Broadway lately, it has lost a lot of its originality... musicals with music that is from other artists/groups is kinda sad... where is the ORIGINAL musicals??
However, I do happen to agree that some of these ideas would be great though, but still we need more original ideas, not just ones based off of books or movies.
Has the musical Gigi ever been put on broadway? It needs some new music but the story line is cute.
