THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA musical headed to the UK and West End in 2024 Jul 6
2025, 04:54:51 AM
From one of London's largest stages to the somewhat narrow Netherlander..
I've always been a fan of Jerry Mitchell's work, but after Kinky Boots it's just gone downhill. I did not like this at all!

True. But who knows Eva Noblezada outside the theater world? Or Auliʻi Cravalho outside the families who watch Moana.

Jamie Lloyd-helmed EVITA revival to play the London Palladium in 2025 Jun 20

Also, in the comments people are writing things like 'Does she have fans' 'Who?' 'Why not do it for the 5 people in the audience'
Typical case of misogyny. While it is doing super well and many fans are attracted to it.

The casting for the London version was so full of big (American) names. I'm so surprised the casting for Broadway couldn't find more big names. Or ask some of those artists back, even if it was just for 4 weeks...
Aimee Lou Wood, Maude Apatow, Rebecca Lucy Taylor, Cara Delevingne, Jake Shears...

The moment is also made for a large group of spectators who gather in front of the balcony. The London Palladium is located on a quiet side street where only traffic comes that has to be at the theater and the few surrounding buildings. In New York it would have to be a theater that is not on one of

They have already recouped and the show is not very expensive to run. So they can keep it up for a while.
I'm more surprised by the numbers of Smashed. Despite the mediocre reviews and everything it still sold okay.

Here in the Netherlands we had 2 versions with only 10 actors. The 5 main guys, the 3 wifes, the music teacher and 1 guy playing the other guys. The last version even cut the kid!

THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON Heading to Broadway Next Season? Jan 21
2025, 05:14:07 AM
For me this was the highlight of my London trip last week. I cried through half the second act. But it is very British, too British for American audiences.
For this to work on Broadway they need to move the setting to America. And start off-broadway first.

First solo London trip! (Advice & recs, please) Jan 18

I always stay at an Hub by Premier Inn https://www.premierinn.com/gb/en/hub.html
The locations near the theaters are somewhat more expensive than the locations outside the center. But all affordable for the quality you get.
I always eat at Pizza Union, which is located just behind the Shaftesbury theatre. Perfect place to eat alone.

Aaron Tveit, Sutton Foster will next star in ‘Sweeney Todd’ Nov 1
2023, 08:25:25 AM
'Sutton is in everything' comments make no sense..
Yes she was in the Music Man last season. Before that it was allmost 10 years since she last played on Broadway in Violet (2014)
Not counting off-broadway, Encores, Londen and other places she performed.

Thanks for this binau,
I saw the show 2 weeks ago with Arthur still in it.
After the ending, it took me about 10 minutes before I could do or say anything. I was so confused and emotional. Absolutely loved it!

There is the 'The Big Four': Assembly, Gilded Balloon, The Pleasance and Underbelly. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edinburgh_Festival_Fringe helped me the first time)
They show the more accessible performances.
If you never seen it before and love musicals (you're here so..) go see Showstopper: https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/showstopper-the-improvised-musical

I tend to disagree. The choreography of the west-end version is much more showy and over the top. A lot felt so pointless and just added for effect. (the cable car, hanging from the lamps, etc.)
And yes it felt very 'inspired by'
