Joy will be great. *Almost* makes me wish this production was still running oner here.

I miss the discourse we had over that almost 30 million dollar mess. I only experienced it once, but good god walking through that alley way and that hallway into the theatre is one of the best feelings of my life. If travel wasn't so expensive I would most definitely go to see this cast. Alas, my money needs to stay in my college fund.

Joy in Cabaret and Catherine Tate in Oh, Mary is making me really consider a flight to London this summer.

I suspect Sally’s book scenes will have her lost at sea, but good for her.

Hmmm, kind of on the fence about Woods as "Sally Bowles", her "Louise/Gypsy" left a lot to be desired. I would rather see Rachel Zegler in the part.

I thought she was really good as Gypsy and was a great Audrey.

She’s got talent but she was in way over her head in Gypsy. She needed a better director to get her there, and Wolfe was not up to task. Or perhaps Woods was not. Probably both because that production was not it.

Joy Woods just does not excite me and I still don’t understand her mass appeal. She has talent, but I don’t think she’s the next great thing in musical theatre - she can sing, but her acting range is, put politely, very limited. Good for SIX and LITTLE SHOP, bad for literally everything else (including her deer-in-headlights Louise)

Having seen Woods in Little Shop, Gypsy and The Notebook, the only acting choice she ever seems to play is vulnerability. That just doesn't work as Sally.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

She was terrible in Gypsy. Completely out of her element. Her voice was flat and pitchy. Wooden acting. After all the buzz during the Notebook, I really wondered what all the hype was about.

"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal "I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello

I will be forever grateful I saw Audra in Gypsy and that feeling of ‘she did it’ but I will never forget how bored I was whenever there was another actor on stage. I still don’t fully understand how it went so wrong with all the talent and director involved. Including a concept that sounded exciting in theory but didn’t seem to really be properly realised in execution. During the strip sequence I still have an icky feeling about the choreography and remember just not feeling anything except watching an actor read lines. People thought maybe hopefully that it would be like ‘shuffle along’ and by opening we’d have a different show, but that didn’t seem to come either.

It doesn’t make me want to rush to see Cabaret, again. Although it’s quite amazing how many years this revival has been running for now in London.

Give me claws and a hunch, just away from this bunch.

I saw Joy in Gypsy in early previews and was thoroughly unimpressed, which disappointed me as a huge fan of hers, having seen her in Six and The Notebook. I then watched her again a few weeks from closing and was astonished at how good she was. She completely grew into that role and became quite the stunning Louise. I think she's possibly the most exciting up-and-coming actress in all of New York right now, and she'll be a fantastic Sally. She's still learning and growing so much and I think that as long as she keeps committing to bettering herself, she's going to be a force to be reckoned with for many years to come. She's got a great match in Jamie Muscato, too, who I think is one of the best the West End has to offer right now. Those that see this will be very lucky.

The theatre kids all seem to love her. You know, the same ones in the Hadestown cult...

100%. Seeing Wholesale, Six, Notebook, Little Shop, and Gypsy, she is incredible to watch and she's definitely one of the most exciting, busiest actresses working right now. She will be a stunning Sally and I really wish I could see it. It's a shame she couldn't do Ragtime, as her duets with Joshua would have been other worldly.

Truly.  She would've been a true equal balance to Henry in Ragtime.  Lewis has never added up for me.  She's serviceable but when Woods became unavailable for NYCC the disappointment was real.

I’m in my mid-30’s, don’t care for Hadestown, and think Joy Woods is one of our best up-and-coming actor/singers. I’ve seen her in Little Shop, Notebook, and Gypsy and I’ve found her choices unexpected and displaying a level of vulnerability that others only indicate toward. I think she’ll be perfect for Sally.

Have to agree with the above. I’m in my upper thirties and have enjoyed Joy in everything I’ve seen her in. Particularly Little Shop. I don’t fangirl over actors. I genuinely appreciate her talent.

I just don't think anybody in these roles can really entice me to see this production again. Not that I'd be traveling to London anyway, but if it was Broadway casting. I feel they've just completely run out of steam in their choices of casting to prop up a weak production.
