Their logo can't even measure up to Grease Live.

Woah, NBC, don't spend too much money on a logo."
Looks awfully familiar.... http://web.archive.org/web/20061228103804/http://www.hairspraymovie.com/
Technically, I really haven't been a fan of any of these logos. The peter pan was okay. But the logo definitly "says" Hairspray.

yes, it quite literally does. you're right!
But the logo definitely "says" Hairspray.
Isn't that kind of the point?
I'd love to see someone ridiculously unbelievable in Prudence's role. I think Cher is going to be play that instead of Velma, hah!
It's probably my favorite of the NBC logos yet. True it's basic AF but at least it fits the feel of the show. I hated all the other logos to death for various reasons. Adding some texture to the white lettering and maybe even the other aspects would make it look a little less MS paint though.
Eh I am really unimpressed. I love this show but the brass at NBC needed a musical that was similar in tone to "Grease" and this show was the obvious choice to do.
They are just mimicking FOX by doing this to try to emulate the success of "Grease Live!"
Bebe Neuwirth is a great idea for Velma. So is Megan Mullally. Most people think of them as TV personalities.
^With Madam Secretary recently being picked up for Season 3 at CBS, I think we can rule out Bebe Neuwirth.

Megan Mullally is a great idea for Velma. Would also be fun to see either Molly Shannon or Ana Gasteyer as Penny's mom.
Here is my choice to play Tracy AND she can sing!

They are casting a unknown. I know someone who is among the 5 finalists being considered. Fingers crossed!!
Beanie Feldstein is not an unknown but she is also not very well known at all. I also know of someone in the running but Beanie is far better. I would say that most people do NOT know who Beanie is. I happened to catch her on Fallon and looked her up. She has the right personality and charm and could nail the part.
If they're not looking for a big star, Jennifer Simard as the Female Authority Figure, please!
I think every character the authority figures play will all likely be played by separate actors. It's easier to have one actor play multiple roles onstage than onscreen.

I can't see Bebe belting out 'Velma's Revenge', having saw her as Mama in Chicago, she's not much of a belter. But otherwise she would be great casting.
Per a post on Marc Shaiman's Facebook, the announcement looks to be who is playing Tracy. The below was posted along with a photo of Ricki, Nikki, and Marissa.

Well that was pretty anticlimatic. All we learned is her name is Maddy , she's from Texas and studies in NYC...and Harvey talked.
She's adorable though! So happy to see a MMC alum snatch this part.

Mickey Mouse Club
^It is way too early to have laughed that hard at that. I needed that, Lizzie.
Also, congrats new Tracy!
NBC just uploaded this new video showing Maddie finding out she got the part. She's adorable! And what a great voice she has!
