I agree about missing the leaps over the orchestra pit.  They only kept them for the "Hello, Dolly!" number.

Where else were they?

I hope I don't offend anyone with this...IMO, sometime it would be helpful if posters could use the spoiler toggle if they are going to describe and review every step of choreography or sets and staging.

Even though I like to stay informed, I've sometime had to stop reading b/c, believe it or not, one of the great experiences and joys of seeing a theater classic like "Dolly", is not knowing every single thing that moves, drops, steps or hops. I'm sorry if I seem to be complaining and I can certainly continue to self-edit what I'm reading.

Thanks for posting the photo of the Bette pin Kmac23. Does anyone know if it is possible to buy merchandise without attending the show?  I'd love to pick up some of those pins, and maybe some other items as well.

There's a merchandise booth at the box office area. I don't know the hours but it's definitely open when the show ends and during intermission.

One can enter any theatre anywhere (Broadway, etc) after a performance to buy merchandise or even use their restrooms.  Intermission absolutely not, but after the performance - absolutely.

Thanks for the tips, next time I'm in I'll do just that!

The waiters gallop in this revival is absolutely stunning.

The choreography is something I am also looking forward to. When they announced the creative team, I thought to myself, 'GREAT! Now Bette will do a bit more than 3 promenades during the title number!' I mean, I was applauding just as hard as anyone else when Carol Channing did one, then two, then THREE promenades, but there's such an opportunity to give Dolly some steps during the number. Also, with a lesser star or when the show is produced  bye  anyone other than  a professional Broadway company  the likelihood of those  promenades falling flat are pretty high. Although, the one promo pic that has been released, shows Bette doing just that, I'm still hopeful.

The leaps over the orchestra are and were only in the title number. In this production, they're also done during the Grand Finale.

If you must, you can check this out on Youtube. There are two complete videos of the Channing production available there.

After seeing The Play That Goes Wrong on Saturday, which has a 2 hour running time, walking past the Booth, I thought... "if I just go over to the Shubert now, I can hear Bette sing through the doors!" But I resisted. I rather be inside the building when I get to hear that... HELLO, DOLLY! Previews

I was wondering about that as well. There are some clips, but nothing complete aside from the touring production.

Well I really blew my Broadway budget all in one weekend. I saw Hello Dolly!, Sunset Boulevard and the City Center Encores! of New Yorkers in one weekend. Thoughts on all three shows here:

Dame, the Florida production is the better of the two. There's another another one there with poor resolution. It's also recorded from a greater distance without a zoom lens.

Thanks DP!   One of the treasures for me in the Florida one is the inclusion of the curtain speech which she did every single time I caught the last tour on the road.  But I don't like the Vandergelder on this one and I preferred the previous Cornelious to Lee Roy .

Poison, Did you See DHP in Curtains ?
I am asking because you said he cannot sing. So I am asking do you think this not the part for him? or is he just bad singer?

I never saw DHP in Curtains. But I just don't think he clicks in the role. His weak singing voice is one thing, but there's also a lack of chemistry with Dolly. I'm sure others will disagree but for me his Horace was the least effective performance of the night.

So how was Bette during "Before The Parade Passes By"? And was the number the great Act 1 finale we all know and love?

It's about two and a half hours.

I saw this on Friday- took my parents as a joint birthday gift for them.

This was truly one of the greatest theatergoing experiences I've had.

Thanks Kad!  It is so uplifting to hear the joy so many people are getting from this show. For some reason, I can't get Put On Your Sunday Clothes out of my head. So I snagged a ticket for tomorrow. Can.Not.Wait.

I agree completely! It's right up there with Hamilton for me. The choreography, the sets, the costuming, the direction--all so so good. Top notch!
