I adore Dame Edna to pieces.
However, I also tend to favor Marin Mazzie, Rebecca Luker, Carolee Carmello, and Victoria Clark.

Posted: 6/14/05 at 9:57amAfter seeing "Dessa Rose", my new favorite Broadway Dame is by far Rachel York. Although I'd seen her in "Victor/Victoria" and "Scarlet Pimpernel", her performance this season in DR impressed me more than any of the "best actress in a musical" Tony nominees. It was a shame the production upstairs at the Mitzi E. Newhouse was considered a legit Broadway tuner and the one playing downstairs was not thus making her ineligible for a nomination. I saw ALL the Tony nominees this year and admired Ms. York's performance the most. I am now a fan for life.
