I'm with Chrysanthemum - neither or those two were particularly happy memories.

Oh, and Joey Fatone in Rent? Ouch. Not pretty!

No one's mentioned Cheryl Ladd? (Annie Get Your Gun)

She even inspired a Forbidden Broadway spoof. Freeze, turkeys!

i don't think bern was the right choice for rose --as a friend of mine put it--it was like watching a child attempt to lift a piano--but it was the entire production that i disliked in that case. i never got the sense that rose was fighting for survival. and the emotions just weren't big enough. bern kept doing that throw your arms in the air gesture (you know--the ref gesture for touchdown) like she was willing herself to be bigger--but it just couldn't happen.
i love tyne on tv -- as long as she is not attempting to play upper-class. hey--tomato/tomah-to. that's why it's all so exciting!

The only thing that I can think of that reminds me of Tyne's acting style (in EVERYTHING she does) is that Jon Lovitz character from SNL -- "AAAAAAAAAAAAACTING . . . THANK YOU!!!!"

I will probably get hung for this, but i thought jennifer laura thompson was a bad replacement as Glinda in wicked. she is quite talented and sang the part quite well, i just found her whole approach annoying when she acted. to me, it seemed like she tried to hard to imitate kristin chenoweth. shes got talent, no question, but i just thought she was annoying. i know probably nobody out there agrees, but thats just my opinion.

The first ones I thought of(Fat one, Mel B, Hasslehoff, Romano, etc.) everyone has mentioned and I fully agree with. But also have to mention Marti Pellow as Billy Flynn in Chicago, he was my first one and gawd awful--couldn't sing and no stage presence.

Hinton Battle in CHICAGO (A surprise for a multiple Tony winner -- but he was just so wrong.)

Karen Ziemba in CHICAGO (Ditto. Not a good Roxie at all.)

John Stamos in HOW TO SUCEED (in which he most certainly did NOT succeed)

Will Chase in THE FULL MONTY (Not enough sex appeal or charisma to replace PW.)

Matt Bogart in AIDA (Not sure if he was just a stand-in or a replacement, but he was not good.)

Vanessa Williams in KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN. (Enough said.)

Hugh Panaro in THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (Miscast.)

Jerry Lewis in DAMN YANKEES.

any number of the people who went into the NINE revival after the first cast left, including Jenna Elfman (why would you cast that role with someone who literally can't carry a tune?!) and John Stamos.

Are you serious? She was one of the best Roxies...

Tirso-Jenna never began performances. She was replaced in rehearsals.

Shirley Jones as Dorothy Brock in 42nd Street. That was, perhaps, the most painful experience ever.

mickey dolenz in aida.

and, forgive me adam, but i thought neil patrick harris made a much stronger emcee than you in cabaret (did not see cummings, so i cannot compare). i think pascal was much better suited in rent and aida.

hell, i even liked deborah gibson better than the actress who played sally bowles opposite pascal in cabaret.

I was a big fan of Linda Lavin's Rose, but I've heard her performance was very inconsistent. It's very possible that I saw her one and only good performance. Still, I have vivid memories of it to this day and I don't remember much of Tyne's.

Yes, Melissa Errico Fan,

I'm serious. Karen Ziemba was a lousy Roxie in comparison to all of the others I've seen. (Although I did not see Melanie Griffith, mercifully.)

She's so great in so many other shows, but seemed uncomfortably out of place.

I am pretty new to the board, and I'm not trying to make enemies, but I have a couple of names to throw into the mix...First...Shoshana Bean. I have seen her in Wicked twice, and while she is more than capable vocally, I find her acting laughable. i was also not a fan of George Hearn as the Wizard. Jasmine Guy in Chicago grated on me. I can't remember his name, but the guy who replaced Hunter Foster as Bobby in Urinetwon who was from the TV show "Ed"...He had about a three note range, and was visibly uncomfortable singing and lost all of the jokes that are written in the music...He was probably the worst broadway lead I have ever seen hands down.

I agree with YankeesFan175. Didn't like JLT in Wicked at all.

A far worse replacement was Liz Larsen, who succeeded Vicki Lewis in DAMN YANKEES. Vicki terrifically sang SHOELESS JOE while Liz had the most annoying belt I've ever heard; her voice was truly irritating.
