I'm so glad I have my ticket then.

Is it sold out? I bought my ticket today around 6pm from the box office.
Who else is going?
Apparently it IS sold out, which is awesome, but it sucks atthe same time because my friend wanted to go SO badly, and she's ticketless.
So if anyone has an extra at any point. Holler at me.
I love LaChiusa almost as much as I love Sondheim (ha! The musical theater geek credo...) If I were in NYC that date, I would be there. But, alas, I will be in Spain at the time. Still, those who are going please report back!
And stupid question: The Bernarda Alba cast recording IS being released, right?
Wow, that was fast! I've been curious about Little Fish, but I can't commit to going that far in advance. Oh well. I'm sure it'll be great!
It is, Chica -- soon!

I still don't understand how I was sold a ticket when it was sold out by 1:50pm today... Can someone explain?
Oh yeah: You can ALSO still buy tickets on the Joes Pub website.

Yes, BERNARDA will be released!
I bought my ticket just to see LaChiusa's unsung hero of a musical.
What a great cast, though!
I can't wait for the Bernarda recording. I only saw the show once, and once is NEVER enough with MJL. never.
oh yay more Michael John love!! The man is amazing and I really find myself just gravitating to his work more and more. There are clips of Bernarda Alba on the Sh-k-boom website and I have been playing them over and over...for those who asked above me I believe the officail release date is July 11th but pre release is June 27th. Again, can't wait to hear about the concert!
MJL is in my opinion, one of the most brilliant theatrical composers ever. His work is so layered, and nuanced. He is a man of details. Absolutley a joy to listen to, and to watch.
and I love how the more you listen...the more you get out of it. Because you are right all the details and layers just bring soo much to discover.I'm soo sad that I have never had the chance to see any of his peices live See What I Wanna See seriously just really has been in my player since it came out and I've always been a huge fan of Marie Christine and just discovered Hello Again this spring. Can't wait for Bernarda!
I feel like one of the true tests of a composer's talent is how many listens you get before you've 'heard it all'. Some composers who I believe can be listened to over and over and over are MJL, Sondheim, and Bernstein (though less people will probably agree with this one).
There are some playwrights who's work has the same effect on me.

Amen to that, Broadway Chica! That should be my motto.
I'm crossing my fingers, toes, and earlobes, hoping they'll record this. I mean, it's already wonderful because it's LaChiusa, but Lisa Howard and Mary Testa on top of that! *sigh* More reason to get to New York as soon as humanly possible. I'm rather looking forward to forsaking food for theater tickets.
Casting news:
All of the original cast members (with the exception of Hugh Panaro), Susan and Heidi from [title of show], and Manoel Felciano have been added to the list of performers.

Who was there?
It was amazing. Mary Testa was great and hearing this score like this - wow. It never sounded so beautiful.
Lea DeLaria was hilarious.
A Bad Date: Lea Delaria
(as a man)
(again)
"You know why I always play men? Because I'm good."
But the best quote of the night was when LaChiusa stopped "Poor Charlotte" (sung by Testa) because he needed more light. Mary Testa responded "The light are pretty but ineffective."
Laura Benanti was not there.
The 6 cast members (Jennifer Laura Thompson, Marcy Harriel, Eric Jordan Young, Lea DeLaria, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Celia Keenan-Bolger) began the show with "DAYS"
Then Lisa Howard did an amazing job with "ROBERT"(all the while we got a powerpoint presentation from Jesse's computer...or whatever no porn.)
Mary Testa performed "IT'S A SIGN." Then the cast sang "POOL" and JLT sang "WINTER IS HERE."
Before some of the songs there were hilarious musical introductions of the characters.
STEVEN PASQUALE sang "SHORT STORY" (backup by Young and Ferguson) - he was fantastic tonight. Definitely makes you forget about Hugh Panaro (who was great in the show).
Then the [title of show] girls sand a hilarious rendition of "JOHN PAUL" together.
Eric Jordan Young and Jesse sang back up to Steven Pasquale (again), who sang "HE" (Para Que Nueva York)
I think the cast came out and sang backup to Alice Ripley's "CIGARETTE DREAM," followed by Celia reprising her role as Anne Frank in "FLOTSAM."
Manoel Felciano came out and sang "I RAN" - it was great!
Then came Lea Delaria hamming it up with the audience and singing the drunken Frank Sinatra-esque ballad "BY THE WAY."
Then came the section of "connect": Marcy singing "REMEMBER ME," Jesse singing "LITTLE FISH," Mary Testa singing "POOR CHARLOTTE," and JLT singing "SIMPLE CHARLOTTE."
Then the six orginals sang "IN TWOS AND THREES."
Michael John was hilarious thtough on piano. At the beginning JEsse made a comment that LaChiusa had sprained his wrists practicing his own score. And JEsse responded saying he should try singing it.
And, of course, Jesse's comment: It's no Rent reunion. No, Jesse, it was not. This was better.

You know how she was right in the faces of the people up front? Well, she said that line *right* in my face. It was pretty awesome. :)

This was incredible. I don't know what to say.
It was also packed!
I wish that they'd record the show, but I know it's not a realistic wish.
I was up front too. Lea Delaria was hilarious. The show was amazing. Mary Testa's voice sent chills down my spine. And Michael John was just having so much fun at the piano. Marcy Harriel was incredible and Jesse brought tears to my eyes when he sang. And Manoel.....what can i say? He's aweseome. An incredible night! Everyone was just great.
