Ooh, yeah. Never liked that one. And I hate a lot of the lyrics in "The Legend of Miss Baltimore Crabs." The lyrics seem so lazy.

The plate-spinning line is bad.

"If a plate they would spin in a dance."

Yeah, I hate it when people Yoda-ize their sentence structure. It's like saying, "I don't think I could live/If me a pony you didn't give." And I hate when Amber says, "These steps are perfect ammunition," (What does that even mean?) and a host of other lines from that song.

"'Cause the houses 'round here
Are all flashy and swank,
An' the front bit
Is what's called a façade!"
from Jekyll and Hyde.
Just....ewww

Legally Blonde... just... no.
and of course Zanna, Don't!-
It looks like love
and it sounds like love
and it seems like love
and it feels like love
and it walks like love
and it talks like love
and it runs like love
and it skips like love
and it hurts like love
dissappoints like love
dissappears like love
reappears like love
and it shouts like love
and it seems like love
so guess what my friend I think. I think I got love.

A triumph.

Im surprised this hasn't been posted yet

"You funneled all that beer,
I held your head when you hurled."
-Legally Blonde

Really? I love the show but that one line....

Oh, I rather like that line... because the way she sings it so tenderly is hilarious, especially in front of Warner's posh friends.

However, I hate the part that goes, "I'll be there on Monday nine o'clock, and we will see who wants a walk." (I assume those are the words? They just don't make sense.)

Schmerg, regarding David Zippel, you're absolutely right. His lyrics are incredibly witty and clever in City of Angels, a score where the puns in the lyrics are as fast and impressive as the vocalese-style melodies.

That "Big Mac" line from Miss Saigon makes me laugh because Kim cost $50. What kind of McDonalds has Chris been going to??

I love the show. And hey, I kind of even love the song. But really:

Good morning starshine
The earth says hello
You twinkle above us
We twinkle below

Good morning starshine
You lead us along
My love and me as we sing
Our early morning singing song

Gliddy glub gloopy
Nibby nabby noopy
La la la lo lo
Sabba sibby sabba
Nooby abba nabba
Le le lo lo
Tooby ooby walla
Nooby abba naba
Early morning singing song

Singing a song
Humming a song
Singing a song
Loving a song
Laughing a song
Singing a song
Sing the song
Song song song sing
Sing sing sing sing song

Wasn't the line, Schmerg, "See who walks the walk"? I wouldn't have any idea, anyway, you're probably right. xD

No, no, turns out you're right.

Looks like we have another addition to that misheard lyrics thread!

Quite a few from Next to Normal, unfortuantely.

Especially after the You Don't Know (Reprise)
--------
Diana: I don't even remember marrying this man....I'm not some sexually frustrated soccer mom.

Dr.Madden: Interestingly, the underlying challenges are similar.
---------
Kills the scene.

"Find My Way"

The ones who thought I'd fall
WHO SHOWED ME HOW TO FAIL!!!!!!!!!!
Who helped me to prevail

Makes no sense. Who showed her how to fail? Those stupid sorority sluts did, so why the hell would she be thanking them? She should thank Emmett for showing her NOT to fail, but that sounds weird. It makes NOOOOOO sense whatsoever. One of the most atrocious lyrics that Broadway has ever seen.

Uh, I don't know about you, but when I'm feeling down, I like to take whatever little comforts I can find. If the only comfort I have is "at least I have my health", "at least I'm not stupid", "at least I'm not THAT person who I don't think very much of", then it may be small, but I'll still seize hold of it with both hands.

Sometimes it's perfectly possible to attribute your successes to people who didn't help you in any real way. Have you never had someone say "you're a failure, you'll never succeed at [task]", causing you to reply "well I'll show YOU, skipper!" and go right ahead and succeed anyway?

It shows a generosity of spirit and an awareness of self and others to be grateful to some "stupid sorority sluts" for helping her succeed, even though all they really did was demonstrate what failure would be like.

That's a great interpretation, Weez... I never thought about it that way. I always just assumed Elle was being sarcastic! You're right, your version makes a lot more sense in context.

That's interesting, Weez. However, I think that a better lyric there would be

"Who told me that I'd fail." That goes along with what you were saying MUCH better.

I had assumed the line was "and we will see who walks the walk". As in, talk the talk, walk the walk.

Yeah, someone told me that a few posts later... and I was deeply ashamed. I always seem to be doing this; Joe Biden is pretty gaffe-free compared to me.

Bumping this back to life with some lyrics from "Side Show." I just discovered this show, and while I love the cast and several of the songs... the lyrocs just make me a bit sick.

In "Come Look At The Freaks:"
Come see our elegant geek
Refined but deadly
Chicken necks delight his incisors
Their heads decorate the mud
His favorite cocktail drink?
It's warm chicken blood!

Ew.

In "More Than We Bargained For"

"I thought they were performers
In a sad, bleak show
But here I am
I fit right in
Into a freak show"

And

I think Violet's sweet on me
Sweet's very hard to ignore
Daisy mentions you with glee
I think we're getting more
Than we bargained for

In "Feelings You Have Got To Hide:"

Why do you feel that way?
Feelings aren't for display
Let's announce love today

And enough rhyming 'bride' with 'hide' and 'guy' with every single word that rhymes with it!

Is this exclusive to lyrics? If not...
I HATE in Wicked:

After Fiyero rolls on stage in response to "you're sleeping", when he says "Of course, it's daytime." It's so awkward. Nobody laughs. Is that really the best they could come up with?

And whomever said from RENT "It's a candy bar wrapper", agreed. Also an awkward line.

I think the line of:

'Nessa, uh, Nessa, I've got something to confess-a reason why'

would flow a lot better if there was a bigger pause, so it clearly wasn't 'confessa', just 'confess....a reason why'.

I don't really get 'sooner buy Defying Gravity'.

However, I really like 'there are bridges you crossed you didn't know you crossed until you crossed' as a line. Some people obviously don't get what they mean of not being aware of something before it's too late and it's happened, but I think it's quite clever.

One of the few times in Wicked when the 'trying too hard to be creative' lyrics pay off.
