I love front row at the palace because it isn’t as close to the pit as the front row at the nederlander and you can stretch legs!

Seeing the show on Tuesday!  I just watched the movie to familiarize myself. I also came across this article that I found interesting. I'll report back as well!

Not to be negative or anything (because I’m actually rooting for this showand I am bummed I can’t see this soon) but I went on to Ticketmaster to see if a ticket sales are like and it’s a very low. The show is it’s not selling green. I am kind of shocked. Are the Chicago theatergoers scared this is going to be another devils wears Prada event?

I don’t think the crowd is scared, they just don’t know what it is. It’s a 30 year old movie and I’d reckon most millennials/gen z theatre goers have never heard of the source material. Boop was also not a box office success from what I recall.

Unless there are major celebrities, Broadway tryouts in Chicago never sell well before they open. They never have. Once word of mouth and reviews kick in, they sell out the last few weeks of their run (or don't).

A lot of the theater goers I know (including myself) take full advantage of the day of rush tickets and lottery tickets. For tonight's show, I purchased a $25 ticket in the balcony on a special. Every month on the 25th they release certain performances of shows for only $25 a ticket. I also signed up (today) for the the lottery (tomorrow's performance) to see if I can't win better tickets. If I do happen to win and the seats are better, I'll just give the ones I purchased to someone at the theater.

Do they do an invited dress rehearsal out-of-town? Otherwise, preview performances begin tomorrow: Tuesday April 30, 2024.

I'll be there tonight as well. It's always exciting to see the first preview of something new here in Chicago, with no advance word of mouth, song clips, production photos...nothing.  Here's hoping it's another Kinky Boots/Spamalot/Producers/Boop, and not another Pretty Woman/Last Ship/Amazing Grace/Devil Wears Prada...

I will be there on Sunday night! Seeing the new play at Chicago Shakes with Jason Alexander that afternoon. Really looking forward to this (and fingers crossed the word of mouth is good)

This show has been getting negative buzz from the industry readings and workshops, though the two leads are very good.

“Everything I do is for the gaze!”

That t shirt catchphrase indicates that they know exactly who their audience is and what their show is about. This already places it ahead of most other recent shows by simply having a focus and something to say. And the curtain doesn’t even go up on first out of town preview for two hours! I’d say it has a head start!

When I saw A Wonderful World at the Palace, they had a table off to the side and upgraded anyone in the balcony, so I wouldn't worry about the lottery and just show up. I ended up getting like Mid-orchestra, perfect seat. Can't wait to hear back! I love the Merch!!
