You would think that with the shutdown, that the Ambassador Theater could finally get renovated

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I wonder if this show  will return when Broadway reopens?  Perhaps not!

That is a good idea.

I would be shocked if it didn't.

It's always nice to see a post from a longtime veteran member of this site.  I am hopeful that "Chicago" will return.  As I understand it, the show is one of the most economical to run on Broadway.

Sadly, CHICAGO relies on tourists to keep it going. Odds are most New Yorkers have seen it already, some multiple times. I wouldn't be surprised if they try and bring in a name when the show re-opens(and by name, not any reality start or former football players).

I very much hope the show comes back. The Weisslers seem hell bent on making it the longest running show, so there's some likelihood of it reopening, not to mention that the Ambassador theater is not exactly what one might call in demand.

A principal cast overhaul would be nice. Or bring back some alumni with star power to reopen (Patti LaBelle as Mama comes to mind)

I love Chicago and I love this revival, but I have to admit the last couple times I saw the show on Broadway, the show has felt TIRED. I think Chicago would really benefit from a casting overhaul and some big stars when Broadway comes back. The production is timeless, but it needs a good cast who can keep the show fresh, sexy, and appealing... three things the show has not been when I have seen it recently. That being said, I will admit that the touring production, which I have seen multiple times, has ALWAYS been in tip top shape.

I think it’s safe to assume that tired cast has had a nice long vacation to now be refreshed again. Anyone taking the show for granted now will have a new attitude and appreciation for it that they might have lost doing the show from so many years of performing in it. Putting the show back on will require full on rehearsals so it’ll be a new kick-in-the-a** to revisit things for them. Starting from point zero again. It’s not like they’ll show up, head to their dressing rooms and just resume where they left off a year ago. I’m sure there’ll be many new cast members plus new orchestra musicians so it’ll be like starting a new production of CHICAGO to whip into shape.

Hello Brody. Someone mentioned before that now would be a perfect time to give the Ambassador a good scrubbing or something else to improve the theatre.  Speaking of the show, it would be beneficial to add/modify some of the steps/choreography.  For example, I've never been a fan of that part where Velma pushes out her posterior before she does that scissor movement with her legs.  Over the years, I've been aware of some minor adjustments to the choreography.  I would love to see Emma Pittman (who won the "Search For Roxie" contest.  For Mama Morton, I'd would love to see Lynda Carter or Lucy Lawless.  It would be wonderful to see a first time Velma as well.  My dream would be Chris Pine as Billy Flynn.  He can sing.  I just hope it returns.
