By the way, does the first season trailer (or "sneak peek") included somewhere in the special features? I really hope so! Can't find it anywhere online!

Smash -- Series Discussion

From Megan's Facebook page. The Target website doesn't show or say anything about a bonus disc. Maybe it's in-store only?

Thanks Yero my Hero. I have no clue how to get pictures on the message boards on here.

You're welcome. And it's simple, just paste the URL for the picture (not the page that the picture is on, but the picture itself). You don't need brackets or HTML tags or anything. To get the correct URL, right click on the photo and click "Copy Image Location".

I just watched the series premiere.
I'm sorta loving it. It's clunky in some area's. Some songs I don't care for. But I like Jennifer's character. I just hope they do not make her the copy and paste Broadway diva.
My heart melts for Megan Hilty.

Ivy. Yes lol. I'm liking the fact they are making her remorseful and showing that she wants to change.
Plus, Megan Hilty is amazing.

Yes, I'm bringing back a very old thread, because I decided to watch the show again (I only ever watched each episode one time when it was on originally). Has anyone else re-watched it recently? I just finished episode 3. I'm enjoying it more back-to-back then I did week-to-week (which I guess most people feel the same). Katharine isn't really as bad as I remember thinking three years ago. Megan is still so clearly perfect to play Marilyn. I still don't really like most of the pop numbers, but they're tolerable. Ellis is intolerable, and so unbelievable as an allegedly straight man. It's been fun to watch again (so far).

"someone tell me when in the history of Broadway have producers ever cast someone with no credits as a lead in a musical?"

Alex Sharp in The curious incident of the dog in the nighttime. Even his alternate has more credits than he does.

Alex Sharp probably has credits from school, considering he went to Juilliard and just graduated last year.

Gypsy I was saying alex sharp, because he wasn't in any Broadway show before curious so he kind of had a less filled resume than others that auditioned.

Ah, that makes sense too.

I'm watching episode 12 of season 1, this strange Bollywood dream sequence 1001 Nights' chorus has a very similar melody to the chorus from I Can't Let Go.

I assume you wouldn't accept Rachel Berry as the answer to your question.  ??

Some of the theaters featured in it were not even legit theaters

They used the St George in Staten Island when they were first starting rehearsals. Further on in another episode they featured the old Loews 175 th Street when Bombshell was closer to opening. Both are old movie palaces beautifully restored

I even think one episode featured the lobby of the Lyceum but the insides of another theater.

An interesting alternate cut of the Pilot, if anyone's interested in watching.

After this, I'm very satisfied with how the final pilot turned out.

I'm pretty sure it's on Hulu!

Season 2 used to be on Hulu for a long while after the show ended, but it's been removed since then. :-/

"What is different in the alt cut?

Really just small changes Smash megafans, like myself would know--all of these changes were definitely made for the better:

-At the audition at the very beginning, the background music is different

-The scene where we first meet Tom, Julia, and Ellis (when the idea of Marilyn came about) are under the same circumstances, but the dialogue and the way the dialogue is executed is different
-In this version, Tom openly objects to Ellis' devotion to helping him "You're not my slave!"
-Overall, Tom's demeanor seems a lot less "nice guy"
-Tom and Julia's complaint about the My Fair Lady revival is longer ("Why can't they make Henry Higgins a woman? Then, I'll be interested!")

-The dance music to "Heaven on Earth" is different

-Ivy's scene about wanting to step out of the chorus is slightly different (takes place at the same moment, though)
-She complains to the stage manager in her dressing room (who tells Ivy she could get fined for damaging stage property, not Jessica like in the final version)
-Tom is not comforting Ivy like in the finalized version, and because of that, Ivy's dialogue is shorter, and the delivery is more aggressive

-Eileen's divorce meeting with Jerry has slightly different dialogue

-The orchestrations to "National Pastime" are rather different

I think those are all of the differences!
:)

Waa honestly hoping it would be Bombshell: The Musical.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
