I'm not lying. Last I heard she had the rights. She may also just want a hand in who gets cast if not herself.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Madonna, huh? That's just fantastic! I really hope she'll just stay on as producer and not ruin it with her on screen presence. The woman can't act to save her life.
The Naomi Watts idea sounds interesting. I'd like to see what she'd do with the role. Maybe Jennifer Connelly, too?
I'd like to see Kate Winslet as Diana. Robert Downey, Jr. as Dan could work nicely, too.
How about Abigail Breslin as Natalie (don't know about singing ability but I sure like her acting) Gabe??? Don't know (Tveit maybe could reprise his role) I like the Sacha Baron Cohen as Doctors idea-not bad Henry-No idea
I'd really like a Diana who actually belt in real life. No fine actresses and autotuning please. And I'd like an age appropriate Natalie-so Breslin would be good. I want a teen, not an Amanda Seyfriend twenty something.
I'd still like to get someone like Pink who can wail in the role and easily play unhinged.

Kate Winslet can indeed sing. She has a lovely voice. Don't know if she's really a 'belter'-but I'd bet if she got some coaching, she could do it. She's got a good ear and I'm certain she can pick up the technique. I like how she can act the role (no pop singers, please! Diana is an ACTING role as much as a singing one).
I'd say Diana is an acting role MORE than a singing one, though obviously you do need to be able to sing. I agree 100% with an actual singer playing her for the movie, autotuning it would be unbearable.
I don't know, Madonna could do a good job from a directing stand point. The people I talked to who saw her movie about Wallis Simpson and Edward the eighth loved it and thought it was surprisingly tasteful and well done. Besides she grew up in a mentally unstable household with a suicidal mother and ended up rebelling just like Natalie. So it would be a very personal film if she choose to direct it or play Diana.
Anybody else planning to go the the Kitt/Yorkey concert on March 1st with Alice R, Brian d'A J and Idina? "It's March 1st, and it's cheese..." LOL. I'm taking the day off from work to be able to go.
"The price of love is loss, but still we pay; We love anyway."
I think Amy Adams and Abigail Breslin could be a good Diana/Natalie pairing. Also, I really like the idea of Pink - with proper direction she could be brilliant.

I loved Aaron Tveit as Gabe..he can't pull off an 18 year old on screen...Jenn could still work as Natalie...and for Diana...they need an equally good singer...and actor...Diana is probably one of the most difficult female roles to sing...and act...
Jenn could still work for Natalie, barely. If they wanted her, and they want Natalie to look sixteen, they'd need to start filming ASAP. Diana had Gabe when she was 21-22, with Natalie not long after. Amy Adams could realistically pull off the role.
Realise Diana is only 36-42 years old based on the script; she got pregnant with Gabe while in college and the show takes place during his 18th birthday. On stage age doesn't matter so much, Riply and Spencer were on the older end of the spectrum if not older when they played the roles. Diana And Dan were young, dumb, and unprepared when they became parents.
Yeah, I didn't think Amy Adams is terribly farfetched of an idea age-wise, since they are supposed to be a fairly young couple for having two kids. Adams is nearly forty already.
