Hello everyone, I need your help finding a song for my partner and I to dance to at our wedding for our first dance (we are gay men). I want to use a Broadway song but all the ones I have listened to are ballads and are kinda hard to dance to. Right now we are thinking about use the song The Music that Makes Me Dance from Funny Girl, but we are having trouble slow dancing to it. I would greatly appreciate your suggestions!
Thank you :)
My cousin used "So In Love" from KISS ME KATE.
I'm a little confused. You want to slow-dance, but not to a ballad? What style of music are you looking for?
The first time my boyfriend and I slow-danced together was rather spontaneously in the living room as a song was playing on TV and we found it rather fitting to be "our song". It was The Man I Love by Gershwin. There are loads of lovely recordings of it.
Strictly speaking, this is not a Broadway song, but I would recommend using the song written for Lea Salonga's wedding.

You guys don't have a special song? (My significant other and I do-maybe we're weird that way, but we have a special song.)

What about "Till There Was You"? Could work depending on the arrangement.
"With You On My Arm" from La Cage?
"Married" from Cabaret?

"It's Love" from Wonderful Town is upbeat.
Have a wonderful wedding.
Though not originally written for the stage, Could I Have This Dance (from Urban Cowboy) is a great wedding song. In fact, my wife and I danced to it at our wedding in 1985.
"I Have Dreamed" from the King and I. That will be the song should I ever be fortunate enough to marry. Great lyrics for a couples wedding song.

Almost Like Being in Love - Brigadoon
We didn't plan our first dance, but when the guest vocalist began singing "Can't Help Lovin' That Man of Mine", I grabbed Mr. Gaveston and we improvised.
It was the ballad version of the song and it worked beautifully.

Talking about possible wedding songs --
Has anyone ever thought of SUDDENLY from the film adaptation of Les Miserables? It was precisely written for Valjean to sing to his adoptive child, Cosette, but the lyrics could be appropriate for a wedding. The song from the film was meant to highlight the epiphany of finding love! Listen to Michael Ball's cover of the song on YouTube - sorry, this must be an unofficial version from a concert ( audio not too great) but the romantic sentiment is quite obvious.

In his latest DVD release ( Both Sides Now), Michael performs SUDDENLY among many other musical theatre gems - it is the perfect version for a wedding!

I go with what was noted above..."Married"....from Cabaret. It's simple and to the point..and lovely.
Human Heart from Once on This Island. I sang it at my sister's wedding!

I would say "Kiss Her Now" from Dear World.
EDIT: I just reread your original post and realized that you were two men. I will try to think of a different song.
