I have read many negative comments about him over the years, but I have to say, I have really enjoyed him in the last two shows I have seen him in, Bullets and SR.....I think he's a very good comedic actor.

You should correct the thread title. It's spelled "Ashmanskas"
I don't have an issue with him as an actor. I like him on the Songs For a New World cast recording. But I think his roles in Bullets and Something Rotten were each some of the least funny roles in the respective shows. Still, good for him for doing his best with the material he was given.
He played Georg opposite Kate Baldwin in She Loves Me at the Huntington Theater in 2008 and I thought he was very good.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

NOT ONLY A GOOD ACTOR BUT A GREAT PERSON! You should really DELETE this thread because you have never even met the man personally! If you had there would be no question of his ability and personality.
I SWEAR sometimes you people open your mouths via a computer and think you can say ANYTHING! YOU CANT! Putting a negative comment out into cyberspace about a person is wrong. Especially when you dont know him.
SHAME ON YOU! AND Shame on Broadwayworld for allowing this type of pure GOSSIP thread to exist!

Wait, I'm sorry are you joking? Literally, who said anything bad about him?? Nobody in this thread. Your tirade just came out of nowhere. Unless you're joking in which case I apologize.
True. I also loved the way he threw himself on the couch of a very annoyed Victor Garber in the revival of PRESENT LAUGHTER several years ago. He always hits the comedic hot spots.
Troynow, did you forget your meds this morning? Now that could be taken as a negative comment, not what I originally posted. My comment was posted to give the man credit for his work because I have read negative comments on this board in the past. If you are his PR person, he needs to rethink that choice.

I find him to be hit and miss - hilarious in Fame Becomes Me, not particularly funny in The Ritz or Bullets Over Broadway, and the only funny thing in Something Rotten. When he's on and really connecting to a part, he's a delight to watch.
I have always really liked Brooks Ashmanskas. I actually thought he may have been the biggest surprise for me when I saw Something Rotten because he doesn't get a lot of stage time and when he does, his material is fairly cliche and you can see his jokes coming a mile away but somehow, he just makes it work and it works wonderfully. I would have even supported him getting a Tony nomination.
I didn't get to see him in Bullets or Promises, Promises but he was definitely the highlight of Fame Becomes Me and I am happy to see him yet again involved in a new upcoming show (Shuffle Along).
I find Brooks to be a brilliant comic actor, he really made roles out of very little in both Bullets and Rotten. Sadly I have yet to meet him, he doesn't seem to stage door.
Any word on his Rotten replacement?
"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel

He does stage door. Just only on certain nights I think. I saw him do it once at bullets and 3x at Rotten. No word yet on a replacement, and I doubt there will be one for a while.
