Everyone else has year long cobtracts, most likely. (And no to both of them for this.

If the producers are trying to ride the wave of Hamilton with oak, I wonder if they would be willing to ride the DEH wave. I'd love to see Mike Faist as Anatole.

Please. DEH has nowhere NEAR the fanbase Hamilton has. Their stars don't sell tickets (with the possible exception of Ben Platt)

Anyone have any updates on rumors?
the two seemed to be being courted by producers. Or maybe it's wishful thinking on my part.
(I thought there was already a thread about this but couldn't find it)
Unfortunately, and in my opinion, I think this (incredible) show will need a bigger name than someone from Hamilton or DEH to stay afloat. The show is superb, but we've seen the numbers without Groban. I think the Broadway names will bring in a few good weeks of numbers, but after that...
Theyll need another BIG name (either for Natasha, Pierre or Anatole) in the Fall, or they may be in trouble.
Personally, I think Jake Gyllenhaal would be a fantastic Pierre. Coming off his Sunday in the Park wave, it'd be great to see him back on stage so soon. But it'll never happen.
I hope they will continue casting relative unknowns as Natasha. Phillipa Soo has clearly gone to great success and I think the same of Denee Benton. Lea Michele would be a horrible choice, not for vocal reasons but because I can't see her playing such a naive innocent at this point.
As for people I'd like to see, I'd love for Lilli Cooper to come back as Helene. For Pierre someone mentioned Jack Black as a possible star casting and while it might not work, I think he'd be interesting in the part.
What numbers are you referring to? Granted, they did take a dive early on because Groban called out in the beginning of their run, when there was no hype. But Groban called out again recently (the first week in April, I believe?) and they still made a million- more than the week before where he was in for all 8.
However, I do agree that they need a name. But I don't think it needs to be one as big as Groban. I think the show is becoming a brand

I'm not talking about the weeks where he "called out" and people expected him to be there and he wasn't. I'm talking about the heavily advertised (and heavily advertised for a reason) weeks that he has not appeared due to scheduling or personal conflicts when the numbers took a notable dive.
Greased...I also think when you have the choice between going this week and seeing a "nobody" or going NEXT week and seeing " somebody" effects sales. Lots of people hold out for the name. .it doesn't (necessariy) mean it wont be able to hold it's own without hin.

If you're gonna stunt cast, you might as well go all in: Garth Brooks as Pierre.
Edit: (By the way, that was a commentary on the realities of stunt casting, not a genuine recommendation. Although I do anticipate the revival of this show someday, set in a west Texas road house with a cast of country stars and with plenty of line dancing)

Good point, mama. Guess we'll have to wait and see how the show does through the summer! I am hoping you're right and they can hold it down without him.

i can safely say neither Clay Aiken nor Lea Michele would be very good as Pierre.
"Contentment, it seems, simply happens. It appears accompanied by no bravos and no tears."
Emmy Raver-Lampman would be a delightful Helene, but she's set with Hamilton for now. I also don't think Soo reprising her role as Natasha is out of the realm possibility.

Hmmmm maybe the plan has always been to put Oak and Phillipa together so they could sell it as a show featuring the stars of Hamilton.
Neither of those two performers are going to sell many tickets. Philippa Soo, however talented she may be, isn't exactly setting the box office on fire over at Amelie. Her eventual return to Comet would be a nice story, but it's not gonna sell many seats.
Emmy would be AMAZING as Helene. But it would be nice to see Lilli do the show again.
