The thought of ANDY KARL no longer on BROADWAY is a horrible one to be sure... But let's think more positively...
Where does he go from here??
Any chance he'd do another musical or play soon? I would love to see him do ANGELS IN AMERICA or maybe replace STEVEN PASQUALE in JUNK... Or maybe even PRETTY WOMAN with ORFEH...
Or is it possible he'll try TV again, a la SVU??
Really hoping to see him back and working again soon!!

He's recently expressed on twitter that he wants a break from Broadway, musicals specifically. He never intended to follow up OTTC so soon, but Groundhog Day came his way and he couldn't pass up the role. I don't blame him for wanting to step away for a bit. He did the show for two months in London, transferred it to Broadway, won an award for his work in London, tore his ACL, barely got to perform on opening night, his show was overshadowed by other things and polarized audiences in the US, then closed, losing most of it's Broadway investment.
Dude deserves to take a nice long vacation if he wants it.
From what I can recall (and my memory is not too accurate so please take what I say with a grain of salt) on the closing night of GROUNDHOG DAY, Andy Karl said he would appear in an indie film and would go singing (on tour?) with his wife.
I will miss seeing him on Broadway, but I agree that perhaps he needs a vacation.
Andy is amazing. He is truly one of the Broadway stage's greatest talents of this era. He also exudes so much warmth, and seeing him rally the cast at the curtain call of Groundhog Day's final performance just showed how good of a guy he is. One of my very favorites.
He's truly earned whatever he chooses to do in this next chapter, though I'm holding out hope that somebody will write a Moonstruck musical and we can have GeorgeandDot's dreamcasting of him as Ronny opposite Laura Benanti's Loretta (seriously, composers and lyricists reading this thread... make it happen!).
I think he'd make a decent Fred Graham in Kiss Me Kate (I'm tapping my watch, Roundabout). Pair him with someone like Megan Hilty, and I'd definitely get a ticket.

Why is this so important to you at this moment?
