My family and I are going to NY on January 8th to see Idina before she leaves (her second-to-last performance). My dad asked me if we should wake up and start driving a lot earlier (we live in MD) and catch the matinee of BKLYN, assuming it is available at the tkts booth. We would have to be out of the house by about 8:30 AM, when if we dont go we could leave pretty much whenever towards the early part of the day. I usually think seeing anything is better than nothing, but listening to what you people have been saying lately...should i go? I'm only 14 and a big eden espinosa fan...is it worth the extra time and money?

I'm assuming it's not costing YOU anything...so I say, go for it, but only because you're a big Eden fan and it's only costing you 165 minutes. (I know, I know, it'll seem like a lot longer. Blah blah blah.)
Otherwise, no.
Go for it! You will love Eden in the role - what's the worst that could happen? You get to hear some great music, and see another show. Experience it for yourself =D
go see it. It's a lot of fun.
Never pass up an opportunity to see Musical Theatre. Especially being an Eden fan - how can you pass it up?
I hate to say this. Even for free, Bklyn is not worth it.
If you can see something good I would pass on the ticket.
I would see some good theater while you are here.
Hairspray. Avenue Q. Forbidden Broadway.
Anything but Bklyn and Dracula.
ANYTHING.
Forbidden Broadway is a realllly good idea...i saw it in April and i want to see the new Avenue Q and Wicked things...Avenue Q and Hairspray I've seen, they are great.
go see it and make your own opinion
Little Darling,
The new Avenue Q number is killer.
And you will find it on TKTS, better way to spend your parents hard earned money.

Hugo,
Brooklyn is the best show on Broadway? How many shows have you seen honey.
That scares me.
That makes horse races.
It made my worst show list.

i agree corine!! you must have a pretty limited view of broadway shows to catagorize BKLYN at the top. Updated On: 12/25/04 at 04:01 PM
If you are a big eden fan -
You HAVE to see it!!
Maybe,
From one slightly overweight puppet to another we agree.
"i agree corine!! you must have a pretty limited view of broadway shows to catagorize BKLYN at the top. "
I saw more then 60 broadway shows, and still think Brooklyn is one of the best
Tiny-
Everyone has different tastes. I have seen 180 shows this year and it was one of my least favorites.
I thought Ramona stole the show but the story (what story) was horrendous.
Happy Holidays.

Corine,
I have seen many shows and I really loved Brooklyn. I have seen the show a dozen times and hope for a dozen more. It has so many layers.... Get's better each time you see it.

Go see Little Women. I just got back from NYC and we got tickets at TKTS for the matinee on weds. and they were 24th row of the orchestra. And it was a really cute show, Sutton Foster is sooo amazing (I love her to death!)
I can't stand how people assume you haven't seen many shows if something they don't like is one of your favorites?! That's absurd and obnoxious. You hated "Brooklyn," great. Someone else loved it and thought it's one of the best she/he has seen. Great for them as well. Another person may see it and not care one way or the other, but to just assume that you're "limited" because you like a show is just annoying. Okay, sorry!

Corine is known for her similarly narrow views on these boards. Don't worry about it :)
That being said, I had a good time at BKLYN. No, it's not the greatest show ever, but I went before I read all the horrendous reviews (in fact, most of the early preview reviews were good) and had fun.
It's a fun show. Don't expect Sondheim though.

I have 3 words for you in regards to Brooklyn...
Just. Say. No.
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
I am glad a few people liked BKLYN. But if you are travelling from Maryland and can only see four shows, I don't think Bklyn is one to pick.
It does seem to appeal to teenagers and I am not a teenager.
My top 50 would not include BKLYN.
Just my advice. Take it or leave it.
Corine's Picks:
Avenue Q
Forbidden Broadway
Hairspray
The Producers
Wicked
See whatever you wish and have fun.
If you were older:
Gem Of The Ocean
The Rivals
Laugh Whore
Dame Edna
