What are roles that you find absolutely bland?
For me I always was bored with Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls except for the Havana scene.
The Wizard in WICKED, but that's nothing new...
I have to think of more...
Caiphas in Superstar
Dorothy- Wizard of Oz
Maria- WSS
any girl in Oklahoma
Hope - Anything Goes
fyiero not much to do with the role

i was gonna say fiyero before but i didnt want to be hit over the head.
I would have to disagree with Joseph. It is such a fun show. The brothers songs are (again) fun.
I dont know all the names of the numbers but...
The Callipso number,
"The Dreamer has to go..."
"Grovel Grovel"
One More Angel in Heaven - and the reprise

Pretty much any role in South Pacific, but especially Commander Bill Harbison.
THIS thread shows why I like character roles! (Besides the fact I don't have the voice for a real lead)
* Karen in Applause
* I just thought of one and it slipped my mind...
* Cosette in Les Mis
* Julie in Carousel (a lot of the R&H heroines, though, PL, I have to say I think Nellie's adorable!)
the Schoolhouse Rock, Live Leads
* Marian the Librarian is almost boring, but then she gets some really great scenes later on
* I agree with Dorothy
* Grace in Annie

Evelyn Nesbit in RAGTIME.
Little Inez in HAIRSPRAY.
Johnny Casino in GREASE.
Half of the characters of TITANIC.
I disagree about Evelyn Nesbit being 'boring' in the musical; she's actually quite funny. But in the novel she's a much more fleshed-out character; it seems strange after reading the book that Nesbit was used as the comic relief.
Giry in the Phantom.....I like her, but I just wanted to add to this thread.
Meg in POTO. She had no point in the show and then at the end, she randomly enters the plot literally 5 seconds before the show finishes.
I'd say Christine in POTO. Her songs are grand, but her part always seems very bland. Not an amazing role at all.
1. Rapunzel (Into the Woods)
2.I can't think of the character but the girl who sings "Sing " in Chorus Line (nerdy)
Kristine in Chorus Line is adorable! Nerdy can = fun. Not obnoxious characters, boring. Heck, Eulalie Shinn is the epitome of obnoxious but is one of my dream roles!!!

Would definitely agree with the Wizard in Wicked, and the Wizard in Wizard of Oz. Nothing exciting about the character or his vocals. Would have to disagree with Fiyero though. Although compared to the book his character is really shallow, I love his songs and cannot imagine wouldn't have a blast singing them.
Also I have to say the brothers in Joseph are most definitely NOT a boring part. I had the time of my life being the soloist for One More Angel, and how much more fun can it get than hanging around with 11 other brothers?
Cosette I would also have to rank as one of the most bland parts. None of her songs are exciting, and next to multi-layered incredible Eponine who gets the best loved song of the show, she's horrendously boring.

Cosette is boring because she's horribly under-developed. In the musical, she became "girl Marius falls in love with." Granted, the book didn't add MUCH more to her than that, but at least you understood that she had some problems too. I like her, but for chrissakes, could they just give her a few more lines of "In My Life?"
Anyway, I second the wizard in Wicked... that's another under-developed character. Cinderella in Into the Woods never really did much for me, even though she definetely has conflicts, and the like... if that didn't make sense, it's because I'm dead tired.
Fiyero WOULD have been a boring role, had Norbert not been playing him...
I don't think Julie Jordan, Kristine, Little Inez, or Evelyn Nesbit are boring roles... and CERTAINLY not Marian the Librarian!
Off the top of my head, I'd say:
Kim- Bye Bye Birdie
... wow. Why is that the only one I can think of right now? I feel like I've thought SO many male romantic leads were SO boring over the years...
aww, Kim! She's not well developed but I think it takes tons of stage presence to pull off the role! Not devolved but so CUTE. You're right about Marian, it was just kinda role-at-a-glance. She is great but a bad actress could make her fall into the trap of boring-ingenue.
I don't even think a fantastic actress could make Kim that interesting...
I'm open though. If I saw one, I'd be happy to renege.
